Job Description

Hood River Electric & Internet Co-op, a member-owned cooperative serving the upper Hood River Valley in Oregon, is seeking an Engineering & Technology Manager to lead its electrical engineering work and supervise its internet department. In this hands-on, working manager role, you'll oversee system planning, distribution and substation engineering, staking and design, and the continued buildout of the co-op's fiber-to-the-home and fixed wireless networks. Working closely with the management team, you'll direct consultants, contractors, and internet staff, meet with members on new services and upgrades, and help update and maintain the co-op's GIS, OMS, and SCADA systems. Together with the rest of the team, you'll keep the co-op's systems safe, reliable, and ready for growth. The ideal candidate is an electrical engineer with at least ten years of progressively responsible electric utility experience, including distribution system planning, design, and construction, and at least three years in a supervisory, lead, or program management role. A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline is required. A PE license, or an EIT with the ability to obtain a PE, is preferred, and so is experience with fiber or fixed wireless networks. A valid Oregon driver's license is required, and you must live within a 40-minute drive of our office within six months of hire. Housing is available.
