BAS/HVAC
Controls EngineerPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced
BAS/HVAC
Controls Engineer to design, commission, and optimize building automation and HVAC control systems. The ideal candidate will ensure systems operate efficiently, reliably, and in compliance with project specifications and industry standards. This role includes hands-on commissioning, programming of control sequences, troubleshooting field issues, and collaborating with design, construction, and facilities teams to deliver high-performing building systems.

Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, program, and implementBuilding Automation System (BAS) control sequences and logic for HVAC equipment, including VAVs, chillers, boilers, pumps, and air handling units.

Develop, configure, and maintain BAS graphics, trending, alarming, and schedules using platforms such as BACnet, Modbus, Niagara/Tridium, or equivalent.

Commission and start-up HVAC control systems on-site: perform functional testing, sensor calibration, loop tuning, and verification against design intent and sequence of operations.

Troubleshoot and resolve field issues related to controls, sensors, actuators, and network communication; provide root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and facility managers to review control strategies, submittals, and as-built documentation; ensure integration with other building systems.

Prepare and maintain technical documentation: control narratives, point lists, wiring diagrams, commissioning reports, and operation manuals.

Provide training and technical support to operations and maintenance staff on BAS operation, energy optimization strategies, and preventive maintenance.

Assist in pre-construction and design reviews to recommend cost-effective, energy-efficient control strategies and equipment selections.

QualificationsBachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls, or related field, or equivalent technical experience.3+ years of hands-on experience with Building Automation Systems and HVAC controls engineering, including programming and commissioning.

Proficiency with BAS protocols and platforms such as BACnet, Modbus, Niagara/Tridium, Siemens, or Johnson Controls.

Strong understanding of HVAC systems and control theory, including PID tuning, sequencing, and sensor calibration.

Experience with commissioning and testing procedures, creating functional test plans and resolving field issues.

Familiarity with energy management practices, fault detection and diagnostics, and optimization strategies.

Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills; ability to work on-site and interact with clients and contractors.

Valid drivers license and ability to travel to project sites as required. Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Energy Manager, BACnet/Tridium certification) are a plus.
