Full-Time Position Summary Fairfield Inn & Suites Hattiesburg is seeking a dependable, hands-on Hotel Engineer to support the daily maintenance, safety, and overall condition of the property. The Hotel Engineer is responsible for maintaining guest rooms, public areas, building systems, and hotel equipment while responding quickly to maintenance needs and supporting preventative maintenance standards. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in fixing problems correctly, maintaining a well-kept property, and helping create a safe, comfortable experience for both guests and team members. Key Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance and repairs throughout guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and exterior areas. Complete preventative maintenance on guestrooms, equipment, and building systems. Diagnose and repair minor electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general maintenance issues. Respond promptly to guest room maintenance requests and operational concerns. Conduct regular property inspections and identify maintenance, safety, and appearance issues. Work closely with Housekeeping and Front Desk teams to ensure out-of-order rooms and maintenance concerns are addressed quickly. Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and preventative maintenance records. Assist with quarterly preventative maintenance requirements and room readiness standards. Monitor hotel equipment and report larger repair or replacement needs to management. Maintain tools, parts, maintenance supplies, and storage areas in an organized and secure manner. Support vendor access and outside contractors when needed. Follow all safety, security, and company operating procedures. Assist with emergency situations and urgent maintenance needs as required. Maintain the overall appearance and functionality of the hotel. Qualifications Previous hotel, apartment, commercial building, or facilities maintenance experience preferred. Hotel engineering or branded hotel experience strongly preferred. General knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and basic building maintenance. Ability to troubleshoot problems and complete repairs efficiently. Strong attention to detail and commitment to property condition. Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with hotel leadership and team members. Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance needs in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to lift, carry, climb, bend, kneel, and perform physical maintenance duties. Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, and emergency response when necessary. Reliable transportation and consistent attendance required. What Success Looks Like Success in this role means: Guest rooms are maintained and returned to service quickly. Preventative maintenance is completed consistently and on schedule. Maintenance concerns are identified before they become larger problems. The property remains safe, functional, clean, and well maintained. Guest-impacting maintenance issues are handled with urgency. Communication between Engineering, Housekeeping, Front Desk, and hotel leadership is strong.
