Job Description

Ultium Cells Overview:
Ultium Cells is a joint venture Lithium-Ion Automotive Battery Cell Manufacturing plant between LG Chem and General Motors. This new construction high-technology plant will have the latest Battery Cell manufacturing technology. The investment in this new business venture represents a commitment of more than $2.3 Billion. It will be among the largest Battery Cell Manufacturing plants in the world. Ultium Cells will produce Battery Cells for General Motors North American electric vehicle applications.

The Ultium Cell partners include LG Chem; the world's largest manufacturer of Automotive Battery Cells in the world and General Motors a global company committed to delivering safer, better and more sustainable ways for people to get around. Purpose of the
Role:
The Project Engineer is responsible for coordinating project elements including engineering design, quality planning, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and final buy-off phases as well as ensuring the project remains within budget in order to meet the requirements of the customers needs. Work on many phases or sub-tasks of projects or entire projects of moderate complexity, with results impacting on project completion. Work under general supervision, reviewed at project milestones and/or on completion by Senior Management.

The facilities engineering group will be required to support the Project Engineer ensuring their areas deliverables are met.
Key Responsibilities:
General and Task ManagementCoordinate all project elements including engineering design, quality planning, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and final buy-off phasesManage the project within budgetPlan project requirements and resources, including the sourcing of sub- contract elements, etc.

React promptly and effectively to changing client and product needsAnticipate any potential project risks, identifying and establishing corrective actionsProduce deliverables on-time to customer requirements, clarifying these requirements where necessaryDefine the customer specification into either a departmental action or sub- contractor orderAccurately record cost for any changes in specificationsEffectively analyze customer and internal changes, including feasibility studyProduce clear, focused and understandable explanations for change requestsTrack project scope changes and participate in meetings when requiredParticipate in Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEAs), Quality history reviews, robustness studies, etc.

Participate in safety MOC meetings to introduce new projects ideas for approvalTrack tasks against the project timing planAssist with design verification and G-Comply sign off processApply specific technical skills as required to support other colleaguesBe willing and available to travel to other Ultium sites and suppliers as needed to support projects and lessons learnedContribute to continuous improvement activitiesQuality control of work by appropriate reviews as neededWrite reports and present progress at project meetings to management and production planningConduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices/ future trendsPlan projects or subtasks so they may be tracked and presentedManage the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Attend various meetings of multi-functional groups to support the business needsUndertake continuous training and developmentPerform root cause analysis and resolve problemsIndependently determine approach and assigned tasksSupport safety PSM program for covered processes as neededPeople ManagementLead and/or support technicians and trainee engineersTrain people within own work groupRelationship ManagementWork and communicate with other internal departments, contractors, and suppliers Be an effective team member, working with supervisor and colleagues to ensure smooth workflow with maximum outputSelf-ManagementComply with the Health, Safety and Environmental PoliciesAssertive, Optimistic, resilient and welcomes changeEngages interest and participation of others and has a collaborative approach to working togetherProactively contributes to the teamIs self-awareSelf-confident and determinationShows moral courage, openness and honesty
Skills and Attributes:
Responsible for project planning involving multiple people Able to read and understand mechanical and electrical engineering drawings Ability to understand and translate product drawings into process information Ability to track budget spend, including sub-contract hours Ability to make and manage good relationships Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong administrator Analytical skills and good judgement Initiative and results/target focused Quality conscious Ability to work to tight deadlines Problem solving skills Presentation skills Ability to promote and drive continuous improvement
Qualifications and Experience Levels:
