Position Opportunity Alamance Foods is seeking skilled and motivated Engineering Technicians to provide hands-on support coverage across our production lines with advanced troubleshooting capability. In this role you will be the technical escalation point the maintenance team can work through — diagnosing and resolving complex mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues, driving equipment reliability, and supporting engineering projects so machinery and systems operate at peak efficiency. This role requires a hands-on approach to ensure that all machinery and systems operate at peak efficiency, directly contributing to the overall productivity and quality of our production lines across all shifts. Essential Duties/Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance & Repair Serve as an advanced troubleshooting resource that the maintenance team can escalate to and work through complex issues, providing coverage across shifts. Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues on production machinery. Conduct training on preventative maintenance on all equipment according to schedules and manufacturer recommendations. Communicate with OEMs to troubleshoot, diagnose, and modify equipment to ensure proper functionality. Read engineering drawings to identify, procure, and troubleshoot components/sub-assemblies, ensuring required parts are available. Process Optimization Collaborate with engineers to identify opportunities for improving manufacturing processes and equipment performance. Implement modifications and upgrades to machinery to enhance productivity and efficiency. Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment and machinery. Spearhead engineering projects, installations, and modifications, ensuring proper application, documentation, and training is conducted for all stakeholders involved. Documentation & Reporting Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and downtime on a daily basis. Prepare detailed reports on troubleshooting efforts, repairs, and equipment modifications. Ensure all maintenance and repair activities comply with safety standards and regulations. Team Collaboration Work closely with production teams to ensure equipment readiness and resolve any technical issues that may arise during production. Provide technical support and training to operators and maintenance staff on equipment use and troubleshooting. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall production efficiency.
Education/Training/Certifications:
Associate's degree or equivalent technical training in Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Engineering Technician or similar role in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food and beverage industry.
Related Experience:
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems. Advanced troubleshooting ability across complex production equipment. Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and manuals. Experience with PLCs, HMIs, and other automation systems is a plus. Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and CMMS software. Proficiency with technology and Microsoft Office Suite applications.
Knowledge/Skills Experience:
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Travel Requirements :
Locally Working Conditions:
Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Must be able to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods. Willingness to work a 12-hour rotating schedule on a 2-2-3 basis, covering A, B, C, or D shift assignments — including day (7:00 AM-7:00 PM) or night (7:00 PM-7:00 AM) rotations, weekends, and holidays as required.
Shift Structure:
A Shift & C Shift:
Days, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM.
B Shift & D Shift:
Nights, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM. A/B shifts work the same days; C/D shifts rotate opposite (2-2-3 rotation) to provide continuous coverage.
