Job Description

Position Overview Pilgrimage is seeking an Engineering Technician to support engineering, estimating, and production across fabrication operations. This is intentionally a broad role. Depending on the day and the workload, this person may be reviewing prints and building up a quote, refining a laser or press brake program, standing at a machine running a time study with an operator, or updating a drawing, routing, or work instruction in the system. This is a ground-floor position built for growth. Pilgrimage is looking for someone early in their career who wants to learn a custom fabrication business end to end — how a job gets quoted, engineered, programmed, formed, welded, and shipped — and who is willing to earn broader responsibility over time. The person who succeeds here will not stay an Engineering Technician forever; this role is the on-ramp to estimating, manufacturing engineering, programming, or engineering leadership. Key Responsibilities
    Estimating & Quoting Support:
Support the estimating process by reviewing customer prints and RFQ packages, identifying material requirements and part features, gathering cycle-time and process data from the floor, and assembling the inputs behind a competitive quote.
      Programming Support:
Assist with offline programming and program tuning for laser cutting, CNC press brake forming, and related equipment — nesting for material yield, bend sequencing, and tooling selection. Training will be provided.
        Shop Floor & Process Support:
Spend meaningful time on the shop floor: validate programs on the machine, run time studies, troubleshoot fit-up and forming issues with operators, and help resolve problems that hold up a job.
          CAD & Drawing Work:
Create and revise part and weldment drawings, DXFs, and flat patterns; support fixture and tooling concepts; maintain drawing revision control.
            Documentation & Routings:
Build and maintain routings, bills of material, work instructions, and program libraries so repeat jobs run the same way every time.
              Quality Support:
Partner with the quality team on first-article inspection, dimensional checks, and corrective action when a part does not meet print.
                Continuous Improvement:
Bring forward ideas that reduce scrap, setup time, and cycle time, and help implement them with the operators who run the process.
                  Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work across engineering, estimating, production, quality, and purchasing — and build the working relationships on the floor that make the rest of the job possible.
                    Safety:
Follow all OSHA regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and plant safety protocols, and hold others to the same standard. Qualifications Pilgrimage is prioritizing aptitude, curiosity, and work ethic over years of experience. The right person may still be finishing school. Required
                    • Currently pursuing, or recently completed, an associate's or bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline. Equivalent hands-on fabrication experience with demonstrated technical ability will also be considered.
                    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including basic GD&T, weld symbols, and bend notes.
                    • Working proficiency with a CAD platform (SolidWorks, Inventor, or AutoCAD) and comfort building and maintaining data in Excel.
                    • Strong mechanical aptitude and genuine willingness to spend time on the production floor — this is not only a desk-only role.
                    • Clear written and verbal communication; able to work directly with machine operators, engineers, and customers.
Self-starter mindset with the ability to take an unfamiliar problem, ask good questions, and work it to a
