We are a seed-stage neurotechnology company developing technology that has the potential to transform how we interact with the human brain. About the role We are looking for a Hardware Engineer to turn ideas into physical parts, and to turn the making of those parts into a repeatable process. Almost nothing we build can be bought, so we need to build our own as one-off or low-volume production.
You will own that work:
design it, build it, test it, scale it. This is a hands-on lab role with significant breadth: CAD in the morning, soldering in the afternoon, and Python scripting in between. We expect you to use AI coding tools to develop automations and bespoke tools to improve efficiency. What you'll do Design and iterate mechanical part design in CAD, for example probe housings, mounts, fixtures, enclosures, and lab hardware. Own our 3D printing: run and maintain the printers, dial in materials and profiles, manage the queue, and keep turnaround measured in hours. Build the workflow and automation around 3D printing and CNC, for example scripted slicing and job submission, print farm monitoring, CAM setup, revision control, and part tracking. Develop processes for low-volume part production, for example mold design and fabrication, casting, potting, bonding, finishing, and the jigs and fixtures those processes need. Do the work that makes hardware real: fine-pitch and through-hole soldering, cable and harness assembly, routing, and careful assembly of delicate parts. Build and maintain test fixtures and benchtop setups, and keep lab equipment calibrated, organized, and working. Write Python to glue the shop together: automation, instrument control, data logging, and part and inventory tracking. Support the team's everyday hardware needs, for example specifying and ordering equipment, setting up workstations and lab machines, and keeping the shop stocked. Work directly with our imaging scientists and research team to understand how each part will actually be used. Who you are Required Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Working proficiency in
CAD:
parametric modeling, assemblies, drawings, and design for manufacturing. Hands-on 3D printing experience, for example tuning, troubleshooting, and repair, plus the judgment to know when a part should be printed, machined, or molded.
Strong technician skills:
comfortable soldering both boards and wire, building clean harnesses, and assembling precision hardware without breaking it. Demonstrated experience with Python. You do not need to be a software engineer, but you should be able to write a real script, for example file handling, an API call, a serial interface, some data wrangling, without it being a project. Fluent with AI coding tools and comfortable vibe coding your way to working tooling. A bias toward building, testing, and improving over designing to completion first. Self-directed and self-motivated, with the ability to execute on a goal rather than a step-by-step guide. Nice to have PCB layout experience, particularly in Altium. CNC machining experience, for example CAM programming, fixturing, workholding. IT and lab infrastructure work, for example specifying and ordering computers, installing software, and managing network and lab equipment. Personal projects, a shop of your own, robotics or FSAE, or other evidence that you build things unprompted. Prior work in a startup or small team, or other evidence of thriving without much scaffolding. What we offer Real ownership of the hardware this company runs on, with a direct path to growing into a senior or lead role as the team scales. A shop you get to build. We buy the equipment and tooling; you decide what we need and how it runs. Direct collaboration with our imaging scientists and research team, and with leading clinicians and neuroscientists at top-tier academic institutions. Work on a modality early enough that the tooling does not exist yet. Much of what you build will be the first of its kind. Excellent medical benefits and a 6% match 401(k). Bridge Neurotech is an equal opportunity employer. We encourage candidates of all backgrounds to apply.
