The engineer performs first-level electrical and signal integrity triage, collects and analyzes appropriate debug data, coordinates with factory and R&D engineering teams, and drives technical issues toward timely resolution. The position requires a strong understanding of electrical hardware design, high-speed interfaces, system-level integration, laboratory debug techniques, and customer-focused technical communication. Depending on business needs, Wiwynn may hire an engineer with combined Electrical Engineering and Signal Integrity expertise or separate engineers specializing in each discipline.
Key Responsibilities:
Electrical Hardware Engineering Review and interpret electrical schematics, board layouts, block diagrams, and system architectures. Analyze server and rack-level electrical designs and identify potential hardware-related failure mechanisms. Troubleshoot board and system electrical issues affecting product functionality, reliability, and performance. Support electrical validation and debug activities throughout NPI and MP. Evaluate hardware behavior during boot, power-on, system initialization, and functional testing. Work with engineering teams to identify appropriate measurements, experiments, and validation activities. Signal Integrity Engineering Troubleshoot high-speed interface failures involving technologies such as PCIe, DDR, Ethernet, and other high-speed interconnects. Support investigation of link-training failures, communication errors, signal quality issues, margin failures, and intermittent system behavior. Review signal integrity measurements, eye diagrams, margining data, compliance results, and other relevant test information. Support channel and signal integrity analysis and identify potential board, connector, routing, or component-related contributors. Work with R&D SI teams and component vendors when advanced simulation, compliance testing, or design analysis is required. Support PCIe, CXL, Ethernet, and other high-speed interface validation activities as applicable. Customer Issue Resolution
  • Serve as a primary technical contact for electrical and signal integrity issues affecting assigned customer programs.
  • Triage customer issues reported from factory testing, rack-level integration, or field environments.
  • Translate customer-reported symptoms into clear technical problems that can be investigated by factory and R&D teams.
  • Determine the appropriate data and evidence required for technical investigation.
  • Communicate technical findings and next steps clearly to customers, management, and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain professional and effective communication during escalated customer issues. Factory and R&D Coordination
  • Work closely with factory Failure Analysis, Test Engineering, Manufacturing Test Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams.
  • Coordinate technical investigations with R&D hardware and signal integrity teams, primarily in Taiwan.
  • Provide complete data packages and clearly defined technical questions to engineering owners.
  • Identify gaps in investigation activities and drive appropriate follow-up actions.
  • Coordinate cross-functional resources to ensure technical issues continue progressing toward resolution.
NPI and Mass Production Support Support electrical and signal integrity issues throughout EVT, DVT, PVT, and Mass Production. Participate in NPI build readiness, system validation, and issue-review activities. Support rack-level testing and integration activities, including L10/L11 environments. Identify recurring electrical and SI issues and coordinate corrective actions with the appropriate owner teams. Provide feedback from factory and customer issues to support improvements in product design, testing, and manufacturing processes. Debug and Laboratory Support Perform hands-on technical troubleshooting in laboratory and factory environments.
Use laboratory equipment such as:
Oscilloscopes Digital multimeters Logic analyzers Protocol analyzers High-speed interface test equipment Collect voltage, timing, signal quality, margining, and other electrical measurements as required. Review logs, test results, board history, failure patterns, and system behavior. Assist factory engineers with first-level troubleshooting and technical debug. Issue Tracking and Closure Maintain ownership of assigned electrical and SI customer issues through resolution. Track issue status, action items, responsible owners, and target completion dates. Ensure issues receive regular updates until closure. Escalate unresolved technical issues when additional resources or management attention is required. Confirm that corrective actions address the identified failure mechanism and that appropriate lessons learned are communicated. Technical Documentation and Communication Prepare concise and accurate technical updates covering: Current issue status Known facts Debug results Root-cause progress Next actions Responsible owners Estimated timelines Develop technical reports, debug summaries, and customer-facing updates as required.
