Job Description

SMT Process Engineer The SMT Process Engineer will maintain and support manufacturing processes in an Electronic Production environment to achieve output, quality, and cost goals of the organization. This position focuses on establishing processes and process control for the SMT lines and related post SMT operations along with providing technical support to equipment operation, operators, and programmers. In addition, this position will collect data and make decisions based on established production metrics.

Off-Shifts periodically as needed Facility location: Chester, CT Department Engineering (126) CT Employment Type Full Time Location Chester, CT Workplace type Onsite Reporting To Kyle Davis Duties and Responsibilities Establishes processes and process control for SMT lines and related production areas Establishes process monitoring to ensure processes remain in control Works in a cross-functional team to document and improve existing processes Works in a cross-functional team to support Continuous Improvement aimed at driving Operational Excellence Works with machine vendors for technical support as required to establish or improve production processes May periodically assist in orienting, training, assigning, and checking the work of other employees Uses technical knowledge and experience to troubleshoot issues on the Production floor, including SMT, THT and Selective Solder issues Recommend changes and/or upgrades to equipment, work methods, and the production process to improve efficiency and utilization of resources Identifies process bottlenecks and devises solutions to resolve Works with Quality to monitor scrap, rework and other quality metrics and uses this data to drive process improvements Advises Manufacturing Engineering teams on floor plan designs and layouts to ensure infrastructure improvements support existing production processes and process improvements Scope Delivers results in accordance with goals and expectations Takes ownership and responsibility for results Openly communicates about commitments Works in a professional manner Shares information readily with team and larger department Works well in a Team environment Education and Experience 8+ years of experience in the Electronic Production Environment preferred Experience manufacturing and inspecting Printed Circuit Boards and their assemblies Operation and programming experience with SMT and THT production equipment Experience overseeing maintenance of SMT and THT production equipment Strong mechanical aptitude Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles Associate degree or higher a plus Physical demands and abilities Able to stand for long periods at a time Able to lift 35 lbs Able to operate basic hand tools (screwdriver, wrench, pliers, electric drill, etc) All Employees Shall Comply with the EH&S Policy and applicable regulatory and company EH&S rules and requirements Report to supervision conditions or practices that are either unsafe or that may adversely impact the environment, to ensure prompt resolution of potential hazards Attend scheduled EH&S training program Actively support the organization's efforts to meet or exceed EH&S goals and plans Recommend improved EH&S practices Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and third parties. This ability to communicate requires the employee to be conversant in English as the majority of our workforce and the third parties that we encounter only speak English.
