Full Job Description Company Overview:

In addition, the Company also manufactures railroad cross ties, which strengthens our relationship with our suppliers in the charcoal business. We offer a full suite of grilling products including charcoal briquettes, all-natural lump charcoal, fire starters along with the Pine Mountain fire building brand, the Diamond brand, and the Specialty Wood Products brand. Position Summary:
The Supplier Quality Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing Royal Oak's supplier quality program for all purchased raw materials, packaging material, operating supplies, and third party purchased products. This position ensures incoming materials/products meet company specifications, and customer expectations while minimizing quality-related production issues. The role serves as the primary liaison between Royal Oak and its suppliers on quality matters and is responsible for conducting supplier qualification, supplier performance management, supplier audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Job Responsibilities:
Develop and manage Royal Oak's Supplier Quality Management System. Manage third party audits through an outside company (i.e. SGS, BV, Intertek, etc.). Establish quality requirements and specifications for purchased materials/products. Approve new suppliers through qualification and validation processes. Monitor supplier quality performance using scorecards and key performance indicators. Lead supplier corrective action requests (SCARs) and verify effectiveness of corrective actions. Drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers to reduce defects and improve consistency. Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills:
Strong mentoring and coaching abilities. Excellent organizational and documentation skills. Strong problem-solving capabilities. Supplier Quality Management. Root Cause Analysis. Statistical Process Control (SPC). CAPA (Corrective and Preventative Action) systems. Supplier auditing. Risk assessment. Quality Management Systems. ERP systems (experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a plus). Strong communication and presentation skills.
Success Metrics:
Reduction in incoming material defects. Supplier Parts Per Million (PPM) defect rates. Supplier audit completion and compliance. Supplier corrective action closure time. Supplier quality score improvements. Reduction in supplier-related production downtime. Reduction in supplier-related customer complaints. Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ). Incoming material first-pass acceptance rates.
Position Requirements/Qualifications:
Preferred bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, Operations or a related field. Minimum five (5) years of experience in Quality Assurance, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Quality, or Quality Systems. ASQ Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), not required but preferred. Six Sigma Experience and black or green belt. Experience conducting supplier audits. Experience managing supplier corrective actions. Experience developing supplier quality systems. Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
Safety:
Promote 5S excellent housekeeping. Foresight awareness for at risk behavior and condition. Safety stewards; promote good mfg. standards. Supports safety related initiatives.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
Active presence on production floor for hands-on training. Ability to travel by automobile and commercial airline. Ability to walk manufacturing facilities and supplier production sites. Ability to occasionally lift, up to 25 pounds. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment while in manufacturing environments.
