Full-Time About the Opportunity We are seeking a Safety Services Engineer to join a growing team focused on improving the safety of industrial machinery and control systems. This is a machine safety and industrial controls engineering position , not a traditional HSE/EHS role. The ideal candidate will have an educational or professional background in industrial controls, automation, machine safety, or risk assessment and an interest in developing their expertise in functional safety. The position is primarily remote, with travel to customer sites of up to 50% , primarily Monday-Friday. Candidates can be located anywhere in the U.S., with Chicago/Illinois preferred . What You'll Do Work directly with customers to identify and reduce risks associated with industrial machinery Evaluate industrial machine processes and control systems Support machine safety and risk assessment projects Assist with developing safety solutions based on recognized industry standards and customer requirements Participate in safety audits and machine risk assessments Support safety architecture design, including hardware and software Assist with safety function verification and system validation Support Lockout/Tagout reviews and procedure development Perform or assist with stop-time measurements and safe-distance calculations Gather information from customers to understand machinery, processes, and safety requirements Help customers prioritize machine safety improvement projects Support project scope development and documentation Work closely with senior engineers to develop technical knowledge and project capabilities Collaborate with the sales team to provide technical customer support Communicate project status and help ensure projects are completed on time Provide technical guidance and support to customers both remotely and on-site What We're Looking For We are open to candidates at different stages of their careers. Recent graduates may be considered with approximately 6 months-1 year of relevant experience , particularly candidates who completed an internship or hands-on coursework involving: Industrial controls Industrial automation Machine safety Safety priority inspections Risk assessments Industrial engineering Candidates with 2-3+ years of relevant industrial controls, automation, or machine safety experience are also encouraged to apply.
Required / Preferred
Skills Working knowledge of Siemens TIA Portal Understanding of industrial controls and automation Knowledge or exposure to machine safety and risk management Ability to understand and evaluate industrial machinery and control systems Knowledge of OSHA and industrial safety standards Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with customers Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field preferred Willingness to travel up to 50% Additional Experience That Would Be a Plus Experience or knowledge with:
ISO 13849 ISO 12100 ANSI B11 ANSI Z244.1 NFPA 79 NFPA 70E OSHA 1910.147
Industrial safety risk assessments Safety system architecture Safety function verification and validation Siemens, Rockwell, Beckhoff, Bosch, or Pilz safety systems Functional safety certifications such as TÜV or similar What You Can Expect $80,000
