Direct Hire Pay:
$75,000 - $97,000 per year +
OT Pay Shift:

Shift Position Overview:
Our client in Lafayette, IN, is seeking a skilled Packaging Engineer to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, designing, and evaluating packaging solutions for automotive parts while supporting both new product launches and mass production operations. You will work closely with internal teams, suppliers, and fabricators to create packaging systems that improve quality, enhance safety, reduce costs, and ensure efficient transportation and storage of products.
What You'll Do:
  • Develop, evaluate, and implement packaging and shipping container systems based on supplier requirements, production processes, logistics, warehousing, quality standards, regulatory requirements, and cost objectives
  • Provide design direction and development plans for packaging containers, dunnage, and specialized shipping racks
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, production, quality, safety, environmental, and materials management teams to establish packaging requirements
  • Manage packaging development projects for assigned suppliers from initial concept through mass production launch
  • Identify packaging requirements and address concerns throughout the development process to ensure project milestones are achieved
  • Troubleshoot and resolve packaging-related issues in production environments, implementing temporary or permanent corrective actions as needed
  • Support packaging reviews and evaluations for imported production parts
  • Drive supply chain cost reductions through packaging improvements while maintaining safety, quality, and delivery standards
  • Utilize CAD software, technical drawings, and engineering documentation to develop packaging solutions
  • Maintain professional and effective communication with associates, leadership, suppliers, vendors, and other stakeholders
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, safety, and cost reduction
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging, Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field preferred
  • Equivalent automotive packaging experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Experience developing packaging solutions for manufacturing or automotive environments preferred
  • Project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, quality, production, and supply chain teams
  • Proficiency with CAD software and interpreting technical drawings preferred
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of supply chain, logistics, warehousing, and packaging systems preferred
  • Experience in manufacturing, packaging engineering, industrial technology, quality, or related fields preferred Send your resume to
