This is a new, hands-on, on-site position requiring someone who is comfortable spending significant time on the production floor, learning how work is currently performed, and turning observations into practical, sustainable refinements, and developing a robust process for continuous improvement plant-wide through Kaizen events and other methods process enhancements. The successful candidate will independently assess operations, identify opportunities, establish priorities, and lead improvements from concept through implementation. This position will help develop a phased plant-growth and operational-improvement roadmap and will evaluate people, equipment, materials, methods, information, and facility constraints to create a scalable manufacturing operation that safely increases capacity, improves throughput, controls costs, and maintains product quality. The Manufacturing Industrial Engineer will partner with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, Engineering, Maintenance, and Management to translate business growth objectives into practical facility, equipment, labor, and process plans.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Evaluate HARLO's current plant configuration and recommend practical layouts, capacity plans, equipment strategies, material-flow methods, and operating systems to support increased production volume and product complexity. Coordinate and implement approved changes. Create and maintain an operational-improvement roadmap that identifies and prioritizes opportunities based on impact, effort, cost, and implementation timing. Spend 50-70% of the time on the production floor observing how HARLO products and major subassemblies are built, engaging with employees, identifying constraints, and translating and turning front-line knowledge into practical improvements into tangible implementations. Design and implement approved assembly-line concepts, subassembly cells, workstations, and material-flow routes for HARLO product families, with emphasis on safety, ergonomics, quality, line balance, visual management, production continuity, and effective use of floor space. Incorporate new product launch processes and procedures as defined between Engineering and Production to ensure seamless transition of new products coming into manufacturing flow are not disruptors to current product and gain production efficiencies expeditiously. Ensure the 4M principles — Man, Machine, Material, and Method — are implemented across HARLO's production / assembly plant to analyze, improve, and troubleshoot all processes. Establish and maintain reliable production standards through process flows, value-stream maps, time studies, takt and cycle-time data, labor standards, workstation layouts, standard work, digital work instructions, and process-control documentation. Evaluate fixtures, tooling, equipment, and automation alternatives based on labor requirements, capacity, quality, implementation risk, and cost. Lead approved manufacturing and process-improvement projects from planning through implementation, working with appropriate departments to support successful adoption and sustained results.
