Canton, NY (100% onsite)

Duration:

12 month c ontract with a high possibility of extension

Position Summary

Responsible for optimizing furnace performance and achieving OEE targets for assigned furnaces used in the production of glass boules. This role develops furnace run plans, monitors key process variables and equipment performance, and coordinates operational and maintenance activities to support safe, efficient, and high-quality production. The position works closely with management, maintenance, engineering, and equipment specialists to ensure reliable furnace operation and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Observe furnaces during production runs to ensure correct operation to set points.

Ensure furnaces adhere to furnace standards from a process, equipment, and operational perspective.

Analyze data output from furnaces for any variables or data that could impact quality.

Observe production process for adherence to specific tolerances.

Review and create docs and run plans for new production runs.

Prioritize maintenance and equipment issues for production meetings.

Analyze and review past runs to identify areas of improvement to address to Engineering.

Conduct rigorous review of any runs that produce a defective part to ensure high OEE.

Answer operator questions.

Ensure equipment and process are in line with standards and are completed in a timely manner.

Required Experience and Skills

Experience in a manufacturing, production, process, or equipment-related environment.

Ability to monitor and troubleshoot process or equipment issues to support safe, efficient, and high-quality production.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across operations, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams.

Ability to analyze process data and identify trends, abnormalities, or variables that may impact product quality or equipment performance.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, maintenance needs, and production requirements.

Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions using established procedures and standards.

Ability to work independently, gather information, and follow through on assignments with limited supervision.

Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Proficiency with basic computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and email.

Travel Requirements

Approximately 5%

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday, day shift
