The facility combines manufacturing, distribution, and operational support functions to efficiently serve CHF's customers and retail partners. A. Purpose and Scope The Industrial Engineer is responsible for applying industrial engineering principles and standard engineering techniques to improve productivity, manufacturing efficiency, labor utilization, quality, and overall plant performance. This position will have a significant hands-on focus within the Pillow manufacturing operation, with responsibility for studying jobs, work methods, production flow, staffing requirements, equipment utilization, and the mechanics of the manufacturing process. The Industrial Engineer will work directly with production employees and leadership to understand how work is currently performed, identify inefficiencies and constraints, and develop and implement practical improvements that allow the operation to run more efficiently and consistently. A primary objective of the position is to identify reasonable, actionable, and measurable opportunities to increase productivity, improve cost-per-unit, optimize staffing levels, reduce unnecessary labor and process inefficiencies, and improve overall production flow. Recommendations are expected to progress beyond identification and analysis to implementation and follow-up measurement to determine whether the improvement produces the intended result. The Industrial Engineer will also support the development and implementation of productivity standards, job descriptions, incentive programs, cost-saving initiatives, equipment and technology improvements, and other projects that contribute to operational excellence and cost reduction throughout the plant. The position requires strong critical thinking, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as self-motivation, and the ability to manage multiple projects while establishing and achieving measurable goals. B. Primary Responsibilities Conduct detailed job, time, motion, and process studies, with a significant focus on the Pillow manufacturing operation, to establish a thorough understanding of how work is performed and where improvements can be made. Analyze the mechanics of individual jobs, including employee movement, work sequence, material handling, equipment utilization, workstation setup, production flow, and other factors affecting efficiency and output. Identify and implement practical process improvements designed to increase productivity, improve workflow, reduce unnecessary movement or labor, eliminate bottlenecks, and improve consistency in the manufacturing process. Work directly with Pillow department leadership and employees on the manufacturing floor to evaluate current processes, test proposed improvements, and assist with implementation and follow-up. Analyze production output, labor hours, staffing levels, downtime, quality results, cost-per-unit, and other relevant operational data to identify opportunities for measurable improvement. Evaluate staffing requirements in relation to production volume and established work standards to help determine appropriate labor utilization and identify opportunities to improve output without unnecessarily increasing staffing costs. Develop and maintain productivity standards and work methods based on job studies, production requirements, customer requirements, quality standards, safety requirements, and actual operating conditions. Standardize distribution and manufacturing operations through job descriptions, work standards, documented processes, and incentive systems. Review routing guides and ensure customer requirements, quality expectations, safety requirements, and other applicable standards are appropriately incorporated into job descriptions and work standards. Research, justify, recommend, and assist in implementing cost-saving work aids, equipment, technology, workstation modifications, and other process improvements. Evaluate opportunities to improve cost-per-unit through labor efficiency, process improvements, material flow, equipment utilization, staffing optimization, and other operational changes. Partner with Human Resources and Operations leadership in the development and implementation of incentive-based compensation programs designed to reward measurable and sustainable improvements in productivity, efficiency, quality, or other approved performance metrics. Conduct the job, time, and production studies necessary to establish reasonable, attainable, and financially sustainable incentive targets and performance standards. Develop measurable performance metrics and productivity standards that can be used to evaluate whether incentive program thresholds are reasonable and achievable under established operating conditions. Analyze the financial impact of proposed incentive programs, including anticipated productivity improvements, labor savings, cost-per-unit impact, and potential employee rewards. Make data-driven recommendations regarding incentive structures, performance thresholds, and potential monetary rewards or wage adjustments. Final approval and implementation of compensation changes will remain with appropriate Company leadership and Human Resources. Monitor the effectiveness of implemented incentive programs and provide ongoing analysis regarding productivity, quality, labor utilization, cost-per-unit, and financial impact. Recommend adjustments when appropriate. Study the Pillow department and other manufacturing departments to identify opportunities for new or improved incentive programs based on measurable productivity, quality, efficiency, and operational metrics. Ensure proposed productivity or incentive standards appropriately account for quality, safety, staffing, equipment limitations, material availability, and other factors that may reasonably affect performance. Insert appropriate quality control measures into work standards, job descriptions, productivity standards, and process improvements to ensure efficiency improvements do not compromise product quality. Identify opportunities for process standardization and transfer successful improvements and best practices between departments where appropriate. Utilize data and critical thinking to identify process inefficiencies and implement solutions that align with Company objectives. Assist in evaluating contractors, vendors, and suppliers for onboarding with CHF, including site visits and follow-up as necessary. Review contracts, leases, and material purchases, obtain competitive bids, and recommend cost-saving changes to the Plant Manager. Assist in building maintenance project quoting, justification, and evaluation as assigned. Assist lead persons and department leadership as required by workload, new requirements, process changes, or improvement initiatives. Assist Human Resources and Operations with the implementation of effective safety and security practices related to process design, work methods, equipment, and employee activities. Complete special improvement projects assigned by the Senior Vice President of Operations, Plant Manager, or other designated leadership. Demonstrate initiative by proactively identifying opportunities for improvement and developing and executing action plans to address them. Develop and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion, effective resource utilization, and measurable results. Set and monitor short- and long-term goals that align with organizational priorities, operational efficiency, cost reduction, and continuous improvement. Lead project planning efforts, including scope definition, timeline development, resource requirements, implementation, and cross-functional collaboration. Document process studies, recommendations, implemented changes, productivity standards, incentive calculations, and measured results to support continued evaluation and accountability. Travel to contractors, vendors, suppliers, or other CHF locations as necessary to support assigned projects, process evaluation, onboarding, or follow-up. C. Safety Promotes and supports compliance with proper safety methods and procedures in the performance of work. The Industrial Engineer will incorporate appropriate safety considerations into job studies, process improvements, work standards, equipment recommendations, and productivity initiatives and will promptly address identified safety concerns through the appropriate leadership channels. The Industrial Engineer is not responsible for independently administering employee discipline related to safety violations. Employee corrective action will be handled by the appropriate supervisory or management personnel in coordination with Human Resources, as applicable. D.
