Job DescriptionWe are seeking a Sr. Production Engineer to direct operations and set technical strategy at our water chemical treatment facility across Production and Logistics. This role requires a strategic engineering leader who will drive process excellence, establish safety standards, and lead organizational continuous improvement initiatives while providing high-level oversight of production operations and supply chain logistics.

Key Characteristics:

Strategic Analysis and Organizational Problem-Solving

  • The role requires driving root cause analysis programs, setting the strategy for investigating quality and equipment non-conformances, and leading supply chain optimization at a regional level.

The lead engineer must architect systematic solutions, synthesize complex OEE metrics into business strategies, and establish robust countermeasures for the organization.



Influential Communication and Mentorship

  • The position involves championing initiatives across site, regional, and global functions, designing training curricula for operations teams, and managing strategic vendor partnerships.

The lead engineer must mentor junior staff, influence cross-functional leadership, and facilitate high-level knowledge transfer across the production and logistics interface.



Strategic Governance and Program Management

  • The role requires overseeing complex operational portfolios across Production and Logistics, approving bulk storage strategies for 36+ tanks, and setting the roadmap for
CAPEX/OPEX

project portfolios. The lead engineer must govern timelines, drive organizational compliance, and ensure strategic alignment across all operational areas simultaneously.



Duties & ResponsibilitiesSupport all Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, policies, and regulationsDirects and governs the Management of Change (MOC) and Process Safety Management (PSM) programs, setting the standard for operational excellence and driving facility-wide improvement strategies.



Oversees and validates advanced process engineering designs, ensuring technical rigor in complex heat and mass transfer analyses, material balancing, and equipment performance evaluations while mentoring staff engineers.



Drives root cause investigation strategy for critical operational failures, leading cross-functional teams to implement systemic, long-term solutions that mitigate organizational risk.



Shapes and champions engineering best practices by leveraging regional and global networks, driving the adoption of innovative technologies and processes that improve competitive advantage.



Exhibits executive-level autonomy, managing high-impact engineering portfolios and making critical technical decisions that affect site performance and long-term viability.



Applies visionary critical thinking to resolve unprecedented technical challenges, providing the organization with data-driven strategic direction and innovative solutions.



Serves as the lead architect for key engineering initiatives, defining project vision, securing resources, and delivering strategic outcomes in collaboration with global Engineering leadership.

Production Focus Areas:

Manage bulk storage, production equipment, auxiliary systems, and utilitiesTrack and analyze Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) data to identify quality concerns, yield losses, and equipment non-conformancesMonitor daily production and quality rates to ensure optimal performanceIdentify, scope, and execute CAPEX and OPEX improvement projectsProvide training and classroom instruction to operations teamsSupport production scheduling and maintain critical documentation

Logistics Focus Areas:

Balance daily administrative duties (25-40% of time) with field support activitiesCoordinate raw material scheduling and ensure adequate storage space availabilityManage packaging schedules and prepare required documentationOversee shipment scheduling and documentation preparationConduct vendor management and maintain chemical organization per segregation/lean standardsPerform supply chain analysis for optimization opportunitiesManage over 36 bulk storage tanks and develop equipment handling proceduresConduct inventory accuracy assessments and ensure risk management complianceThis dual-role position offers the opportunity to gain comprehensive understanding of both production operations and logistics management while driving process improvements and maintaining the highest safety and quality standards in water chemical treatment operations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Process Engineering and Equipment Analysis

  • Proficiency in heat and material transfer calculations, mass balancing, equipment performance assessments, and process optimization. This includes understanding of chemical treatment processes, equipment design principles, and the ability to analyze and improve process efficiencies for both quality and productivity outcomes. Data Analysis and Performance Metrics Management
  • Expertise in tracking, analyzing, and interpreting Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) data, production rates, quality metrics, and yield loss analysis. This includes statistical analysis capabilities, trend identification, and the ability to translate data insights into actionable improvement strategies. Process Safety Management (PSM) and Regulatory Compliance
  • Knowledge of Management of Change (MOC) procedures, Environmental Health and Safety regulations, risk management protocols, and chemical handling/segregation standards.

This includes understanding of bulk storage tank management, chemical compatibility requirements, and maintaining compliance documentation for water treatment facility operations.



QualificationsBachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related engineering discipline Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not requiredRelevant certifications in Process Safety Management (PSM), Hazardous Materials Management, or Water Treatment Operations are advantageous

Experience Requirements:

Minimum 8-10+ years of experience in chemical processing, water treatment, or related industrial manufacturing environment with a focus on technical leadershipExperience with process engineering principles including heat/material transfer, mass balance calculations, and equipment performance optimizationDemonstrated experience with data analysis, OEE tracking, and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma preferred)Experience in project management for

CAPEX/OPEX

initiativesBackground in supply chain management, logistics coordination, or inventory management preferredExperience with regulatory compliance (EPA, OSHA, DOT) and safety management systemsHands-on experience with bulk storage systems, chemical handling, and production equipment operationsExperience in training and mentoring operations personnelKnowledge of Management of Change (MOC) processes and Process Safety Management (PSM) principles preferredProficient in SAP, ERP, or comparable systems for production and logistics management. Hands on experience with Siemens automation and control systems. Proven ability to champion safety initiatives and foster continuous improvement in workplace safety culture. Direct operational experience with connection assembly/disassembly, line clearing procedure, pump operations, manifold system managementField experience in safe chemical handling and transfer protocols.
