Job Summary:
The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring that purchased materials, fabricated & welded assemblies, components, and outsourced processes meet established quality, regulatory, and customer requirements. This role serves as the primary quality liaison between the company and its supplier base, driving continuous improvement, supplier development, risk reduction, and overall supplier quality performance. The SQE partners closely with Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations teams to support new product introductions, supplier qualification, PPAP approvals, supplier audits, corrective actions, and ongoing supplier performance monitoring. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with strong technical skills, a passion for quality, and the ability to develop productive supplier relationships. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Supplier Quality Management Develop and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers. Evaluate, qualify, and monitor supplier performance using established metrics and scorecards. Lead supplier audits, assessments, and capability evaluations. Manage supplier quality issues and drive timely resolution through corrective action programs. Verify implementation and effectiveness of supplier corrective actions. Facilitate supplier development initiatives to improve quality, delivery, and process capability. Advanced Quality Planning Coordinate supplier APQP and PPAP activities. Review and approve First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs), control plans, PFMEAs, process flow diagrams, and quality documentation. Support new product launches and engineering changes involving suppliers. Ensure suppliers meet customer-specific requirements and industry standards Quality Systems & Continuous Improvement Monitor supplier quality KPIs including: PPM (Parts Per Million) Supplier Corrective Actions (SCARs) Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) Defect Trends On-Time Corrective Action Closure Conduct root cause analysis utilizing methodologies such as: 8D 5 Why Fishbone (Ishikawa) PFMEA Support implementation of continuous improvement initiatives that reduce defects and improve process capability. Participate in internal and external audits as required. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Purchasing, Engineering, Operations, and Manufacturing teams to resolve supplier quality concerns. Support material disposition decisions related to nonconforming supplier products. Assist in supplier selection and sourcing decisions by providing quality performance data. Communicate supplier risks and opportunities to leadership . Key skills, abilities and knowledge: Strong understanding of:

quality systems. Knowledge of supplier auditing techniques and quality tools. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systems (Syteline). Ability to plan, organize and direct multiple work activities simultaneously. Ability to read, understand and interpret field documents, shop drawings, and blueprints.
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering - Mechanical, Industrial or related technical
Experience:
3+ years in supplier quality with strong quality and manufacturing process Desirable Attributes ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Supplier Quality Professional (CSQP), or equivalent certification. Experience in metal fabrication, welding, machining, and assembly manufacturing. Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience.
