Job Description

CAD Drafter / Manufacturing Engineer $25-$30/hour | On-Site | Monday-Friday Position Overview We are seeking an experienced CAD Drafter / Manufacturing Engineer to support a CNC machining and metal fabrication operation. This is a hands-on position that combines SolidWorks drafting, reverse engineering, estimating, purchasing, and production support . The ideal candidate can take a customer drawing—or even an existing physical part—and turn it into an accurate, production-ready model. This person should be comfortable working closely with both the office and shop floor and understand how drawings, materials, tolerances, and production requirements come together in a manufacturing environment. What You'll Be Doing Create detailed 3D models and production drawings using SolidWorks . Measure existing components using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision measuring tools. Reverse engineer physical parts to create accurate models and drawings for machining or fabrication. Access and work with existing files in Fusion 360 , including file conversions and technical drawing support. Review customer purchase orders, drawings, specifications, and other technical documentation. Help convert customer requirements into accurate internal sales and production orders. Assist with estimating and quoting by reviewing part complexity, materials, and anticipated shop time. Communicate with customers when clarification is needed regarding dimensions, tolerances, materials, or design specifications. Source raw materials, hardware, and specialized tooling required for production. Request vendor pricing, compare material costs, issue purchase orders, and track incoming materials. Work closely with operations to ensure jobs have the correct drawings, materials, and information before reaching production. Maintain organized drawing files, job documentation, and revision histories. Provide additional technical and administrative support to keep projects moving efficiently between the office and shop floor. What We're Looking For Strong proficiency with SolidWorks is required. Familiarity with Fusion 360 is strongly preferred. Hands-on experience using precision measuring tools and translating measurements into technical drawings. Previous experience in a CNC machining, machine shop, sheet metal, fabrication, or similar manufacturing environment is highly desirable. Understanding of manufacturing drawings, tolerances, materials, and production processes. Experience with estimating, quoting, purchasing, or material procurement is a plus. Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate technical documentation. Comfortable communicating with customers, vendors, production employees, and office staff. Organized and able to manage multiple active jobs and priorities. Schedule This is an on-site, Monday-Friday position . The company's normal operating hours are 6:30 AM-3:00 PM . The specific daily schedule will fall within those business hours. Compensation $25-$30 per hour , depending on experience. Candidates with a strong combination of SolidWorks, reverse engineering, CNC/machining knowledge, and hands-on manufacturing experience will be especially well suited for this opportunity. INDHP
