Openings Job Specifications:

Manufacturing Engineer with a mechanical background. Consumer electronics / high-volume hardware experience, ideally from Amazon, Microsoft, Google, or similar. Experience with precision fixture design and fabrication, including very tight tolerances (about 5-10 microns). Proven ability to support DFA/DFT and final assembly, from early builds through production ramp. Ability to work across product-design teams and suppliers, balancing manufacturability, flexibility, cost, and quality.

Overview :

Support the DFX Engineering team responsible for bringing consumer hardware products from design through scalable final assembly at Tier 1 contract manufacturers. This role will help ensure products, fixtures, equipment, and manufacturing lines are ready for high-volume production.

Responsibilities:

Drive Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Test (DFT) reviews with product design and engineering teams. Design, develop, and validate mechanical fixtures for assembly, testing, and packaging. Define final-assembly process flows, station layouts, tooling requirements, and equipment needs. Support manufacturing builds across Proto, EVT, DVT, and MPVT phases. Identify line bottlenecks and support capacity planning, line balancing, and process improvements for volume ramp. Partner with contract manufacturers, equipment vendors, and internal teams during equipment readiness, factory acceptance testing, line bring-up, and debug. Evaluate suppliers and make cost-versus-quality trade-offs for fixtures, tooling, and manufacturing equipment. Influence product teams to incorporate manufacturability, testability, precision, and flexibility requirements early in design. Help develop flexible manufacturing solutions that can support multiple product SKUs.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. Experience as a Manufacturing Engineer, DFX Engineer, Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer, or similar hardware-production role. Experience supporting precision mechanical assembly and fixture/tooling development. Strong understanding of tolerance stack-ups, assembly processes, and manufacturability. Experience working with contract manufacturers, equipment vendors, or factory operations. Ability to operate in fast build cycles and solve issues during line bring-up. Strong cross-functional communication skills with product design, engineering, quality, supplier, and manufacturing teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

Consumer electronics or wearable hardware experience, ideally from companies such as Amazon, Google, Microsoft, or similar high-volume hardware environments. Experience scaling manufacturing from prototype builds through high-volume production. Familiarity with high-precision tooling and fixtures, including requirements in the 5-10 micron range. Medical-device manufacturing experience is relevant where it includes precision assembly and fixture development; high-volume consumer-hardware experience is preferred. Experience supporting manufacturing operations in the Bay Area, Seattle, Redmond, or with APAC-based contract manufacturers. #AJ1
