Who we are looking for:
  • We are currently looking for an Operations Engineer to be based out of Hobart, Indiana. Reporting to Sr. Engineering Manager, this person will be responsible for standardizing operational procedures defining standard production rates, ensuring accuracy of BOMs and Routings. The position will also be responsible for efficiency, uptime, and cost improvement projects. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of manufacturing experience. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a preferred. What you'll do: Manage and oversee continuous improvement projects as a Project Leader or Facilitator, which will drive improvement in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
  • Define standard procedures and operating variables throughout Hobart's manufacturing processes. Engineer solutions and implement standard work/work instructions to sustain improvements.
  • Review downtime and under rate data and use lean tools to drive improvement.
  • Be responsible for time studies, review of rates, and standard changes (BOMs and Routings)
  • Take direction from facility leadership to develop and execute Capital Expenditure Requests.
  • Manage site productivity improvement projects and project ideation.
  • Ownership of routings and routing accuracy in JDE and legacy systems. What you'll bring: Bachelor of Science in Engineering related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience with JD Edwards a plus. Within 3 months, you'll: Complete your Atkore immersion program.
  • Gain an understanding of tube mill and value added operations fundamentals.
  • Gain an understanding of standard materials required within the operation. Within 6 months, you'll: Manage part number and routing creation with JDE and AS400.
  • Complete time and yield studies for production SKUs.
  • Collect data and drive performance improvements using lean methodologies. Within 12 months, you'll: Define standard operating procedures.
  • Manage and drive the ideation of productivity projects and their execution.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $76,160 - $104,720. Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
