Responsible for the support and coordination of lean production initiatives, including routine duties to best support the plant needs. Responsibilities also include the development and implementation of capital and expense projects in support of manufacturing departments.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
(Essential functions)
Monitor and correct safety/ergonomic issues
Provide manufacturing technical support for production operations, which includes tooling, fixturing and process troubleshooting utilizing existing systems and procedures
Implement processes and equipment improvements
Assist with capability studies for present and future processes
Coordinate the development and launch of new equipment/tooling
Work closely with maintenance to troubleshoot equipment issues
Coordinate with outside vendors for tooling or equipment services
Provide direction and guidance to the engineering technician
Assist OEE and downtime improvements by aiding in the development of preventative maintenance, equipment and tooling programs
Coordinate cost reduction and lean manufacturing efforts with production operators
Continuously improve through employee development, process improvement and elimination of waste
Develop and implement capital/expense projects to support cost reduction initiatives
Participate in strategic business development initiatives
Participate in lean workshops
Complete the planning/estimating of new manufacturing processes and operations
Maintain work standards for manufacturing operations
Work with Industrial Engineer to improve and update the plant layout including material handling considerations
Lead the PFMEA process to reduce operational risks
Comply with all Company policies
Participate in GDPIM product launch activities as required
Assist other functional areas as directed
Participate, as required, in six sigma and O.E. (lean, continuous improvement) workshop activities
Communicate updates for records of equipment in the plant (PCR's)
Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in manufacturing/mechanical/industrial engineering or related field preferred
Approximately 3 years tool design experience preferred
Working knowledge of computer aided design systems (Siemens NX preferred)
Working knowledge of statistical process control
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Knowledge of CNC machining preferred
Computer literate with knowledge of various software
Six Sigma Green Belt status preferred
Knowledge of Lean Production techniques, JIT concepts, motion time study and standards development preferred The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
