ABOUT THE ROLE
The Automation Engineer is responsible for supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of Tube Draw manufacturing equipment through the maintenance, troubleshooting, optimization, and continuous improvement of automation systems. This position provides technical know-how for PLCs, HMIs, vision systems, AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles), and automated packaging equipment. This role is a key contributor to equipment reliability, process performance, and operational excellence, with primary responsibility for the automation systems supporting tube bundling equipment.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
Design, program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC equipment Serve as the primary technical resource for automated bundling equipment, related packaging systems, and AGVs Lead capital projects related to automation from start to finish Manage day-to-day vision equipment operation Collaborate with cold end operations to optimize upstream processes including cutting and conveying Monitor process performance using analytical tools Track and improve KPIs such as yield, scrap, uptime, and efficiency Commit to the execution and evolution of continuous improvement and operational excellence objectives by supporting process design, problem solving, knowledge sharing, and measurable operating results Coach, teach, train, and consult with assigned employees and teams to build OpEx capability, strengthen accountability, and support learn-by-doing methods Support site OpEx coordinator, employee teams, and cross-functional improvement efforts to ensure improvements are implemented, measured, sustained, and linked to productivity and site objectives Identify opportunities to implement common processes and best practices, encourage teams to address issues, and guide effective problem-solving and solution implementation Follow the 4 C's outlined in the company policy - communication, commitment, continuous improvement, and customer satisfaction Exemplifies all safety, health, and environment rules, company rules, regulations, and ISO procedures and work instructions Perform any additional duties as assigned
WHAT YOU BRING TO NIPRO
(SKILLS) Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) 2-4 years of experience in automation/robotics related manufacturing Knowledge of glass tubing packaging (preferred) Knowledge of Allen-Bradley/Rockwell equipment (preferred) Strong understanding of PLC troubleshooting Familiarity with inline inspection systems Proficiency with data analysis and problem-solving tools Strong troubleshooting and analytical thinking Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration Hands-on, results-driven mindset

Salary Range:
$70,000 - $85,000
