Job Description
CNC Setup & Programming Specialist - Project Based Titan Trades CNC is seeking an experienced CNC machinist for a project-based opportunity in Carlstadt, NJ. This is an excellent fit for a highly capable machinist who wants flexible, as-needed work and can independently take a part from drawing/CAM through setup, machining, and inspection. The shop is a new, technology-focused manufacturing startup operating a Haas VF-2YT and using Fusion 360 for CAM. The company is incorporating automation and AI-assisted CAM workflows into its manufacturing process. What You'll Do Review and modify existing Fusion 360 CAM setups Create CNC programs from scratch when required Independently set up and operate the Haas VF-2YT Select tooling, establish workholding, set offsets and prove out programs Troubleshoot machining, setup and programming issues Produce parts from 3D models and 2D drawings Perform in-process and final dimensional inspection Help establish machining best practices and shop procedures We specifically want someone capable of reviewing or updating CAM, programming from scratch, running the machine, and inspecting the finished part. What We're Looking For Strong CNC milling setup experience Ability to work independently without constant supervision CNC programming experience Haas experience strongly preferred Fusion 360 experience strongly preferred Strong blueprint-reading and inspection skills Comfortable troubleshooting tooling, workholding, programs and machining processes Job-shop or prototype machining experience is a plus Schedule / Assignment Structure This is not a guaranteed 40-hour-per-week position. Work is performed on a project-by-project, as-needed basis as customer jobs are awarded. Candidates should be comfortable with a variable schedule and accepting individual machining assignments as they become available. The opportunity may grow into a larger or full-time role as the shop increases production volume.
