Job Description

Lead Design for Manufacture (DFM) Engineer - SolidWorks The Opportunity We are manufacturing the next generation of the best heavy-duty circular blade sawmills, including our upcoming dual-motor electric models. We have the demand, the shop floor, and the vision—but we need a driver to push our engineering over the finish line. This is not a role for a passenger. We are looking for a hands-on mechanical engineer who takes extreme ownership of the product lifecycle. You will bridge the gap between SolidWorks and the shop floor, ensuring our designs actually translate into efficient, cost-effective manufacturing. What You Will Do Drive the
Engineering Baseline:
Take full responsibility for our SolidWorks PDM vault, ensuring every model is locked down, accurate, and optimized for actual fabrication and machining. Master the
BOM:
Clean up, structure, and own the Bill of Materials. You will synchronize our SolidWorks data with our ERP (Odoo), ensuring the shop floor has flawless manufacturing orders and accurate costing. Design for Manufacture (DFM): Translate complex assemblies into bulletproof manufacturing drawings. You know exactly when to use a multi-body part, how to apply accurate sheet metal K-factors, and how to define practical machining tolerances.
Streamline Production:
Manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) through our ticketing systems (Slack), ensuring clear communication with the fabrication and machining teams so nothing gets lost in translation.
Push Us Forward:
Identify bottlenecks in our CAD-to-production workflow, enforce strict part-numbering and configuration rules, and implement the standards needed to scale our operation.
Who We Are Looking For A Builder:
You want to build a company, not just clock in. You take pride in seeing your designs turn into steel and heavy machinery.
A SolidWorks Authority:
Deep expertise in SolidWorks, specifically with multi-body modeling, PDM management, and custom BOM templates.
Shop-Floor Fluent:
You understand the realities of custom fabrication, outsourced sheet metal, and in-house machining. You know why a messy CAD property destroys shop efficiency.
An Owner:
You don't wait for tasks to be assigned; you find the friction points and engineer solutions. Why Join Us? You will have a direct, highly visible impact on the future of our machinery. We are an operation where your engineering decisions will immediately translate into physical products, streamlined shop processes, and direct company growth.
Pay:
$45.00 - $65.00 per hour Expected hours: 30.0 - 40.0 per week
Benefits:

Experience:
