POSITION SUMMARY
Cooke Brown is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Structural Engineer to join our growing team in Ambler, Pennsylvania. This position is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career engineer interested in building design and structural engineering. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced Professional Engineers from both offices on the analysis, design, and documentation of structural systems for new and existing buildings. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience across all phases of project delivery, from conceptual design through construction administration.
KEY RESPONSIBLITLIES
Assist in the analysis and design of structural systems utilizing steel, concrete, masonry, wood, and cold-formed metal framing.
Prepare structural calculations, reports, and engineering documentation.
Develop structural drawings and models using AutoCAD and Revit.
Participate in field investigations, site visits, and construction observations.
Review shop drawings, submittals, and Requests for Information (RFIs).
Support senior engineers and project managers in delivering projects on schedule and within budget.
Learn and apply applicable building codes, design standards, and industry best practices.
Contribute to maintaining Cooke Brown's reputation for responsiveness, collaboration, and practical engineering solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Architectural Engineering. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification with 0-3 years of structural design experience. Strong understanding of structural engineering fundamentals. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Preferred Exposure to structural analysis software such as RAM Structural Systems, RAM Elements, RAM Connection, Enercalc, RISA-3D. Experience with common codes such as
IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, NDS.
Experience performing structural calculations and preparing construction documents.
Design experience with residential and commercial buildings.
Familiarity with Revit.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to perform site visits and field inspections. Ability to access construction sites and navigate stairs, ladders, and uneven terrain when required. Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
