Litchfield Cabinetry

Design Engineer

Job Description

Litchfield Cabinetry builds custom residential cabinetry for the Lowcountry's luxury corridor — Charleston, Hilton Head, Beaufort, Palmetto Bluff, and Bluffton. We work directly with builders, architects, and designers on high-end homes where the cabinetry is expected to be the best thing in the room. Our shop combines vendor-sourced and shop-built components, and our clients expect precision, responsiveness, and a finished product that holds up to close inspection. The role The Design Engineer owns the path from approved design to shop-ready output. You will draft in Cabinet Vision, move projects through the engineering workflow, generate machine-ready files, order doors and materials, and communicate directly with clients, designers, and builders. This is a hybrid design and engineering seat. It suits someone who is equally comfortable resolving a tricky corner detail on screen and picking up the phone to walk a builder through a change. What you'll do
  • Draft cabinetry designs in Cabinet Vision from architectural plans, field measurements, and design intent
  • Develop and issue shop drawings and elevations for client and builder approval
  • Move projects through the engineering workflow from preliminary layout to released production files
  • Screen and send jobs to the machine; verify nesting, part output, and cut lists before release
  • Order doors, drawer boxes, hardware, sheet goods, and finish materials against project schedules
  • Communicate directly with clients, designers, and general contractors on selections, revisions, change orders, and lead times
  • Coordinate with the shop on constructability, sequencing, and field conditions
  • Maintain accuracy of specifications, finish schedules, and job files from award through delivery What we're looking for Required
  • Working proficiency in Cabinet Vision (or comparable — Microvellum, Mozaik, Cabinet Pro — with willingness to move to Cabinet Vision)
  • Experience producing cabinetry shop drawings for custom or high-end residential work
  • Solid understanding of frameless and face-frame construction, inset tolerances, hardware, and finish considerations
  • Ability to read architectural plans and reconcile them against field conditions
  • Strong, prompt communication in writing and on the phone — this role is client-facing and responsiveness is not optional
  • Organized enough to run multiple active jobs at different stages without dropping details Helpful
  • CNC nesting and machine file experience
  • Familiarity with luxury residential builders and the design trade
  • Background in a cabinet shop, millwork shop, or architectural woodworking environment Compensation and growth Full-time.
Base salary plus a business development incentive.
