Tesla's Energy Manufacturing Engineering team is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to build and develop "The machine that builds the machine"- crafting revolutionary tools and processes that unlock sustainable abundance. You'll collaborate with dynamic cross-functional teams (Design, Quality, Production, etc.) across the entire product lifecycle, from bold initial concepts and prototype breakthroughs to seamless full-scale production. Together, we'll develop high-quality, efficient manufacturing equipment and processes to produce advanced battery modules for Tesla's power electronics, supporting advancements that expand access to abundant clean energy, evolve industries, and promote a sustainable future. This role involves domestic and international travel as needed for projects. Develop manufacturing equipment and fixtures to support early-stage prototype builds and medium to high-volume production, collaborating with equipment integrators on design and manufacturing Determine and procure necessary equipment for all manufacturing processes, while managing suppliers through specification, design, buyoff, and installation Characterize and validate new equipment and fixtures for introduction to the production floor Develop new manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency and scalability Determine layout of production workstations, optimizing for product flow, ergonomics, and overall efficiency Perform process analysis, including DOE, PFMEA, line balancing, capacity modeling/simulation, and DFM input to the design team for process and yield improvements Create detailed manufacturing instructions to train technicians and line operators on new processes and equipment 3+ years' experience developing mechanical and/or electromechanical systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment Hands-on proficiency with 2D CAD tools for conceptual line design (AutoCAD) and 3D modeling for mechanical equipment, fixturing, and tooling (SolidWorks or CATIA) Familiarity with conveyance systems, transducer-based fastening (Atlas Copco preferred), robotics (Fanuc or Kuka preferred), adhesive dispensing, laser welding, or automated functional testing Demonstrated ability to create technical specifications for automated manufacturing equipment Experience in providing Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Automation (DFA) input Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional ability Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program
