About the

Role:

We are looking for an ambitious Food Engineer to lead the sanitary design, food safety, and regulatory compliance of our innovative food processing hardware appliance. You will be the primary technical authority for ensuring our machinery meets all strict U.S. regulatory standards (FDA and NSF) from concept to prototyping.

What We Are Looking For:

Location:

Must currently reside in Houston, Texas, USA. (Applications from outside the Houston area will not be considered.)

Work Authorization:

Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder. (We do not provide visa sponsorship, including H-1B or any other work authorization, and will not consider candidates requiring sponsorship.)

Experience:

Proven experience with cleanability validation, sanitation protocols, environmental/swab sampling, microbiological testing, and evaluating food-contact surfaces and product samples for microbial contamination, including interpretation of laboratory test results.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Food Engineering, Food Science, Food Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent hands-on professional experience in sanitary food equipment design may be considered.

Technical Skills:

Deep expertise in applicable U.S. food safety requirements, FDA food-contact regulations, NSF/ANSI food equipment standards, sanitary design principles, and food-contact material selection.

Hands-on:

Proven experience with cleanability validation, sanitation protocols, environmental/swab sampling, microbiological testing, and evaluating food-contact surfaces and product samples for microbial contamination.

Mindset:

A "get-it-done" attitude—you want to see your sanitary designs come to life.

Autonomy:

Ability to work autonomously and own your food-safety and regulatory design decisions from concept to final product.

Key Responsibilities:

Sanitary Design Architecture:

Lead the design process to ensure all food-contact surfaces, seals, and mechanisms meet strict FDA and NSF standards.

Regulatory Compliance:

Serve as the primary technical authority for U.S. food equipment safety, cleanability, and contamination prevention.

Technical Authority:

Guide the engineering team on food-grade material selection and hygienic manufacturing requirements tailored for the U.S. market.

Prototype Validation:

Work closely with the core team to oversee sanitary testing, validation, and the transition from design to physical prototype.

Note:

This is a milestone-based contract project. The hourly rate listed is for estimation purposes, and the total compensation will be structured as a project-based flat fee based on project milestones and deliverables.

$30.00 - $50.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
