Full Job Description Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Operations Engineer to join our team. The Operations Engineer position will focus on optimizing large fabrication equipment such as Turret Presses, Lasers, Brake Presses, Panel Benders, Welding Equipment, Punch Presses, CNC Mills and similar equipment. Working in partnership with cross functional teams to improve all aspects of Operational Excellence; capacity, safety (EHS), build in quality, provide direction to assembly, enhance fabrication throughput, reduce operating cost and promote environmental initiatives. Travel could be required up to 5% of time.
What You'll Do:
Operational Expert in Fabrication Equipment and Software. Optimize process and programs to improve material utilization, scrap and inventory reduction. Analyze and suggest improvements to specific manufacturing operations such as welding process, fabrication process, finishing process, assembly processes, material handling and storage Partner with Operations and Maintenance to improve Operational Equipment Assist with the implementation and improvement of quality tools such as go/no-go gauges, assembly jig design, quality control checklists, & FTT tracking In ERP system, establish routing sequences and appropriate instructions for machinists to follow blueprint instructions to safely and successfully complete tasks. In ERP system, assign bills of materials to new part. Assigns and manipulates unique item master maintenance parameters per item. Builds calculations for programming including where/how materials should be cut and nested. Collaborates with Engineering Design team on design limits with machine capabilities Checks/Troubleshoots completed programs by running simulations or tests. Prepares geometric layout of designs using proper software, assigns appropriate tool hits, and determines efficient sequence of operations in a program. Analyzes and selects speeds and cutting tools for programs. Makes improvements to set up times / streamlines tooling setup time for operators Orders and manages tooling for machines when applicable. When nesting, maximizes material yield / minimizes material waste.
What You'll Bring:
Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering (Significant manufacturing engineering experience may be substituted for BS degree) Familiarity with Turret Press or Laser programming and nesting a plus Lean manufacturing, 6 Sigma, continuous improvement training desired Familiarity with Amada VPSS4i and Auto Pol software a plus Excellent analytical, data, and problem-solving skills Training in Environmental Health and Safety (OSHA, NFPA) desired Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills Team player with ability to work on multiple projects Computer literacy in Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint Preferred experience with 2D/3D CAD, 3D printing,
