The Pump Assembly Technician builds, tests, and packages finished pump assemblies in an efficient and safe manner, using a variety of hand tools, air tools, light machinery, and calibrated measuring instruments. Because we are a small business, the work you finish today reaches a customer within days, and the care you put into each build is visible in the product. Every assembly you release carries your name on the record. No prior pump experience is required; we will train the right person who brings mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a dependable work ethic.

Key Performance Indicators:

Assembly output meets or exceeds the standard build time for each pump model Team on-time completion of assigned work orders greater than 90% Zero customer-reported defects traceable to assembly, testing, and packaging workmanship Measurable reduction in scrap and rework attributable to assembly error 100% of build travelers, test records, and traceability entries completed accurately and legibly before product release Zero recordable safety incidents; workstation safety and 5S housekeeping standards maintained Reliable attendance and punctuality

Key Job Tasks:

Pump Assembly, Testing, and Packaging — 70% estimated time Assemble centrifugal pumps, pump and motor units, and sub-assemblies per approved drawings, bills of material, routers, and written work instructions Set and verify critical dimensions such as impeller clearance, shaft runout, and mechanical seal setting using calibrated measuring tools Install mechanical seals, o-rings, and gaskets using correct handling, lubrication, and torque practices Operate the hydraulic press and light-duty shop machinery (no prior experience necessary, training provided) Perform hydrostatic pressure tests and pump performance tests; record results on the applicable test record Deburr, clean, and prepare finished product for shipment, protecting stainless steel surface finish Package, label, and stage finished goods so the product arrives at the customer undamaged Pull, kit, and verify parts against the bill of material; report shortages and discrepancies promptly Quality and

2015 Responsibilities — 20% estimated time Build only to the current released revision of each drawing and work instruction; never work from an uncontrolled or superseded document (ISO 9001:2015, 7.5 and 8.5.1) Perform in-process and final inspection to the inspection criteria for each product, using only gauges and instruments that are within current calibration (7.1.5 and 8.6) Maintain product identification and traceability throughout the build, including serial numbers, heat and lot numbers, and inspection status (8.5.2) Complete build travelers, test records, and inspection records accurately, legibly, and at the time the work is performed (7.5.3) Identify, tag, and segregate nonconforming product and initiate an NCMR. Every technician has both the authority and the responsibility to hold suspect product and stop work on it (8.7 and 5.3) Support root cause investigation and corrective action for internal nonconformances, RMAs, and customer complaints (10.2) Raise opportunities for improvement in tooling, fixturing, work instructions, and assembly methods (10.3) Participate in quality training, internal audits, and other QMS activities; complete assigned training and keep training records current (7.2 and 9.2) Understand and support ASP's Quality Policy and the quality objectives that apply to this position (5.2 and 6.2) Safeguard customer and supplier property in ASP's care against damage, loss, or contamination (8.5.3 and 8.5.4) Safety, Housekeeping, and Team Support — 10% estimated time Follow all ASP safety rules, lockout/tagout procedures, and personal protective equipment requirements Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area and participate in housekeeping standards Report unsafe conditions, near misses, and injuries immediately Support other departments as needed, including receiving, shipping, and machining Cross-train on additional pump models and assembly cells

Job Requirements:

High school diploma or GED, or equivalent practical experience Able to read, write, and communicate in English well enough to follow written work instructions, drawings, safety procedures, and quality documentation, and to communicate with coworkers and supervisors Able to work from mechanical drawings, bills of material, and written assembly instructions Competent with basic shop mathematics, including fractions, decimals, and unit conversion Able to use shop measuring and inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and go/no-go gauges Experience with mechanical assembly and the use of hand tools and air tools preferred Consistent attention to detail and a willingness to follow a documented process exactly as written Dependable attendance and punctuality; able to work scheduled overtime as production requires Able to work productively both independently and as part of a team At least 18 years of age, due to the operation of production machinery Legally authorized to work in the United States; Form I-9 verification is required upon hire

Job Qualifications Desired:

Prior experience with mechanical assemblies Experience in an

ISO 9001

certified or otherwise quality-regulated manufacturing environment Ability to operate a lathe, vertical mill, hydraulic press, angle grinder, or bench grinder Forklift or pallet jack experience; certification can be provided Basic computer skills for time entry, work order transactions, and ERP/MRP lookups Great teammate with a growth mindset, eager to continuously improve themselves and those around them

Vision:

adequate close vision, with or without corrective lenses, to identify small parts, read drawings and measuring instruments, and perform visual quality checks

adequate hearing, with or without correction, to receive verbal instruction and to respond to alarms and safety signals Work environment: manufacturing floor with exposure to noise, moving machinery, metal chips, cutting fluids, and cleaning agents; required personal protective equipment is provided
