Summary We are looking for a hands-on, safety-minded Packaging Supervisor to lead daily Line 23 packaging operations on the PM shift. This is a working supervisor role: you will spend significant time on the production floor supporting the line, directing employees, monitoring quality and food-safety requirements, and helping the team meet daily production goals.

Overtime, weekend work, and occasional six-day workweeks may be required Work setting: Active food-manufacturing and packaging facility; on-site only Essential Duties and Responsibilities The duties below are considered essential functions of this position. This list is not exhaustive and may be revised to reflect legitimate business needs, consistent with applicable law. Direct, assign, coordinate, train, and monitor the work of Packaging Operators and other assigned line employees to support safe, efficient, and compliant packaging-line operations. Establish, communicate, and reinforce daily work assignments, production priorities, operating expectations, and performance standards for assigned Packaging Operators and other line employees. Work regularly on the production floor and provide hands-on packaging, inspection, material-handling, troubleshooting, and operational support as needed to maintain line performance and production flow. Ensure the packaging line is prepared for start-up by completing or verifying completion of required pre-operational inspections, line-clearance activities, sanitation verification, equipment checks, material staging, and production documentation. Monitor daily packaging activities to ensure employees follow established work instructions, Good Manufacturing Practices, food-safety requirements, quality standards, sanitation requirements, allergen controls, PPE requirements, and plant safety rules. Consistently enforce established Company work rules, safety requirements, GMPs, food-safety requirements, sanitation procedures, quality standards, and PPE requirements; promptly address observed noncompliance within delegated authority and escalate concerns as required. Evaluate packaging-line stations, workflow, staffing coverage, equipment readiness, material availability, and production output to identify and address conditions that affect safety, quality, efficiency, or throughput. Identify, troubleshoot, document, and escalate line interruptions, equipment concerns, packaging-material shortages, product-quality deviations, food-safety concerns, staffing concerns, and other operational issues to the L23 Production Manager or appropriate department. Inspect finished products, labels, lot codes, packaging integrity, weights, quantities, and other assigned quality attributes to verify conformance with established specifications and customer requirements. Remove, segregate, place on hold, or escalate nonconforming product in accordance with company procedures and Quality Assurance direction. Collect, label, and submit product samples for quality, food-safety, laboratory, retention, or other required evaluation. Request, receive, stage, monitor, and use packaging materials in a timely and efficient manner to support production schedules, minimize downtime, and reduce material waste. Complete accurate and timely production records, pre-operational checklists, inspection logs, traceability records, material-usage records, downtime reports, quality documentation, and other required records. Enter or verify production, traceability, inspection, and related information in the company's designated computer system. Communicate work assignments, production expectations, safety requirements, food-safety requirements, quality findings, line status, staffing needs, and operational concerns to employees and management in English and Spanish. Monitor employee meal and rest-period coverage and promptly elevate potential scheduling, coverage, attendance, timekeeping, or compliance concerns to the L23 Production Manager and/or Human Resources in accordance with company procedures. Train, coach, and provide timely day-to-day performance feedback to assigned employees regarding work performance, attendance, safety, sanitation, quality, food safety, productivity, teamwork, and workplace expectations. Participate in shift handoffs, production meetings, safety meetings, quality meetings, investigations, audits, employee training, and continuous-improvement activities. Maintain a clean, organized, sanitary, and inspection-ready packaging-line work area and supervisory workspace. Immediately report injuries, near misses, unsafe conditions, equipment hazards, food-safety concerns, quality concerns, and policy violations in accordance with company procedures. Provide supervisory coverage for designated packaging or production areas during planned or unplanned absences, as assigned. Required Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience. Three (3) years of relevant experience in food manufacturing, packaging, production, warehouse operations, quality, or a comparable manufacturing environment. Prior experience leading, training, coaching, or directing production, packaging, warehouse, quality, or manufacturing employees. Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish to provide work direction, communicate safety and food-safety expectations, explain production and quality requirements, provide training and feedback, and support assigned line employees. Ability to read, understand, and follow production schedules, work instructions, safety procedures, sanitation requirements, quality documents, labels, and production records in English. Ability to complete required written documentation and electronic entries accurately in English. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations; maintain accurate counts, records, and documentation; and identify discrepancies. Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to enter or verify information in production, traceability, inventory, quality, or timekeeping systems. Demonstrated ability to organize work, prioritize tasks, exercise sound judgment, resolve routine operational problems, and promptly escalate concerns requiring management, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Safety, or Human Resources involvement. Ability to work the assigned shift, including overtime, weekends, and occasional six-day workweeks based on production needs. Ability to wear and use required personal protective equipment and comply with all applicable safety, food-safety, sanitation, and quality requirements. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a bakery, frozen-food, ready-to-eat food, or other food-manufacturing environment. Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices, sanitation programs, HACCP, allergen controls, traceability, quality systems, label verification, and product-hold procedures. Experience with packaging equipment, conveyors, labeling or coding equipment, checkweighers, metal detectors, and related production-line equipment. Experience using manufacturing, production, inventory, quality, traceability, ERP, or other plant-management systems. Experience participating in continuous-improvement, process-improvement, waste-reduction, efficiency, or lean-manufacturing activities. Core Competencies Knowledge of safe work practices in an active manufacturing and food-production environment. Working knowledge of food-safety, GMP, sanitation, quality, traceability, and allergen-control principles applicable to assigned work. Ability to lead employees consistently, professionally, respectfully, and with appropriate accountability. Ability to communicate effectively and build cooperative working relationships with Packaging, Production, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Warehouse, Sanitation, Safety, Human Resources, and management personnel. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and effective verbal communication skills in Spanish. Ability to provide clear work direction, reinforce expectations, document issues, and address performance concerns constructively. Ability to remain organized, calm, and effective in a fast-paced production environment with changing priorities. Physical Demands and Essential Physical Requirements The physical demands described below represent those that may be required to perform the essential functions of this position. Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the work shift while moving between packaging stations, production areas, warehouse areas, staging areas, freezer areas, and other plant locations. Frequently bend, stoop, reach, grasp, use repetitive hand movements, and use hands and arms while monitoring packaging activities, conducting line checks, handling samples, completing documentation, and providing hands-on production support. Lift, carry, push, pull, and move materials or products weighing up to 30 pounds frequently, using safe work practices and available equipment such as lift tables and pallet jacks. Climb ladders as required to safely access assigned equipment, observe production processes, conduct inspections, or perform other essential supervisory and operational duties. Ladder use must be performed in accordance with company safety procedures and training. Visually inspect products, labels, packaging, lot codes, equipment conditions, production documentation, and work areas. Communicate verbally with employees, supervisors, and cross-functional partners in an active production environment; receive operational information through spoken communication, alarms, radios, and other workplace communications. Use a computer, keyboard, tablet, scanner, handheld device, or similar equipment to enter traceability, production, quality, inspection, and other required records. Work Environment and Required Safety Practices Work is performed primarily in an active food-manufacturing and packaging facility. The position regularly works on the production floor and may enter warehouse and freezer areas as part of normal duties. Work may involve exposure to moving production equipment, conveyors, packaging machinery, forklifts or other powered industrial equipment operating in the work area, noise, wet or slippery surfaces, cold temperatures, cleaning and sanitation chemicals, food ingredients, allergens, and food-product materials. The employee must comply with all company safety practices, food-safety programs, quality standards, GMPs, sanitation procedures, allergen-control requirements, and PPE requirements. Required PPE may include, as applicable, safety shoes, hair and beard restraints, gloves, hearing protection, safety glasses, high-visibility garments, protective sleeves, freezer gear, and other task-specific protective equipment. The employee must follow applicable machine-guarding, ladder-safety, chemical-safety, sanitation, lockout/tagout, and other site-specific procedures and report unsafe conditions immediately.
