Job Description

Key Gas is looking for a Welding Engineer to join their team. As a Welding Engineer, you will work with the weld team to meet their daily goals on productivity and quality. You will also work with the Production Manager to make sure the weld team is following the schedule to meet our customer's needs. This individual will be involved from initial customer quotes (processes required and rate), to the design of tooling required to meet the customers needs. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Also, additional job duties may be assigned. Participate in welding and assembly fixture design reviews Skilled in robotic programming and tooling/fixture design Learn and complete welding documentation Set up welding machines based on the job at hand or using a Welding Procedure Specification and document for future orders Improve cycle times, welding efficiency, change over and set up times, reduce weld cost, and reduce rework Interpret welding specifications Develop procedures and training for reworking welds Help develop destructive testing methods and procedures Read and interpret blueprints and/or drawings to determine the specific welding requirements MIG/TIG - weld steel, aluminum and stainless steel components based on the specifications of the blueprints and/or drawings Ensure weld quality of the team Provide support in the analysis and resolution of weld equipment and tooling failures Provide support analyzing quality issues Provide technical support in developing and improving automated weld processes Work with Engineering and Production to drive down rejects and rework hours Work with Engineering to develop preventative maintenance activities to improve uptime Train new team members on both company and department expectations Ability to lead a team to meet department goals Must be active in continuous improvement and looking for ways to improve processes Follow all safety rules and quality standards Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency Stays abreast of new technology and welding techniques Can use CAD software (Fusion 360) Tooling design a plus Other departmental duties as needed
Qualifications:
A minimum of 5 years experience in fabrication and welding using MIG, TIG, and brazing processes A BS in Welding Engineering is preferred A minimum of 2 years lead experience directing a team Must have knowledge of wire and filler material applications for various steel alloys and aluminum Must have robotic experience Proficient in the use of conventional and precision measuring instruments

$70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
