Corning's Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world. Position Summary

The Raw Material Engineering Intern will support the Corning Environmental Technologies Raw Material Engineering team in advancing raw material qualification, supply assurance, and cost reduction across a global manufacturing network. This role provides hands-on exposure to the technical aspects of raw material management and offers practical experience in materials engineering, manufacturing support, and data analysis.

The intern will contribute to projects that improve raw material performance, strengthen supply chain resilience, support supplier qualification activities, and identify cost-reduction opportunities while maintaining product quality and manufacturing performance.

Community Involvement Key Responsibilities Collect, organize, and analyze technical data related to raw materials

Assist engineers with material qualification studies and experimental plans

Support preparation of technical presentations, reports, and recommendations

Document findings and communicate project progress to stakeholders

Apply engineering and analytical tools to solve manufacturing and supply chain challenges

Work safely and comply with all applicable environmental, health, and safety requirements

Collaborate effectively with team members across multiple functions and locations

Typical Project Opportunities

Depending on business needs, the intern may support one or more of the following: Evaluate opportunities for alternative or regional raw material sources

Assist with raw material qualification and second-source initiatives

Develop dashboards, reports, or visualizations to support raw material decision-making

Investigate sources of raw material variability and recommend improvement opportunities Required Qualifications Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, or a related field

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Effective written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work independently while collaborating in a team environment

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2027 (May-August 2027) with a graduation date of December 2026 or later

Real-world challenges associated with global manufacturing operations This position does not support immigration sponsorship. ​The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly. Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
