Rubber Materials Engineer Formulation & Molding

Job Description

Rubber Materials Engineer Bethlehem, PA | $120,000 to $150,000 Per Year This role supports the development and commercialization of products built from advanced materials, including thermoplastics, thermosets, composites, coatings, and metallic alloys, with a strong emphasis on rubber formulation and molding. The position covers the full product lifecycle from concept through production, giving the engineer hands on exposure to polymer processing, part design, materials development, testing, and failure analysis. Schedule Full time. Some domestic and international travel required (up to 10%). Compensation $120,000 to $150,000 per year, based on experience. What You'll Do In this role, the engineer will develop and evaluate new products, materials, and components, supporting design from initial concept through commercialization and full production. Responsibilities include developing polymer and rubber formulations, evaluating material performance, and coordinating prototyping, testing, validation, and pilot production runs. The engineer will conduct and interpret thermal, mechanical, and chemical testing using methods such as FTIR, DMA, DSC, TGA, and tensile testing, and will troubleshoot design, material, tolerance, and manufacturing issues as they arise. The role also involves participating in supplier selection, tooling, and cost evaluations, leading or contributing to cross functional design reviews, preparing technical documentation, and providing product training. Close collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, Marketing, and outside suppliers is expected throughout. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering 3+ years of experience with rubber materials, rubber formulation, and rubber molding Working knowledge of thermoplastic and thermoset materials, including testing and failure analysis Strong analytical and problem solving skills Strong communication and presentation abilities Proficiency with Microsoft Office Willingness to travel internationally up to 10% Preferred Qualifications FEA experience with Abaqus or ANSYS Experience with Moldflow Insight Compensation and Benefits Medical, dental, and vision coverage Paid time off and paid holidays 401(k) with company match Company paid disability and life insurance Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Tuition reimbursement Adoption assistance Relocation assistance available To apply, submit your resume for consideration.
