Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Welding Engineer to provide technical leadership and oversight of our welding program. This role is responsible for ensuring welding operations meet customer, industry, military, and regulatory requirements while driving improvements in quality, productivity, safety, and manufacturing efficiency. The Welding Engineer will serve as the company's technical resource for welding-related activities and will work closely with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Program Management, and Business Development teams. Key Responsibilities Welding Program Management Own and manage the company's overall welding program. Ensure compliance with AWS, ASME, NAVSEA, MIL-STD, and customer-specific requirements. Conduct periodic audits of welding processes and procedures. Maintain welding manuals, procedures, work instructions, and supporting documentation. Lead initiatives focused on welding quality, productivity, and cost reduction. Welding Procedure Development & Qualification Develop, review, and revise Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR). Plan and execute welding procedure qualification testing. Ensure welding procedures remain current with applicable codes and customer requirements. Evaluate new welding materials, processes, equipment, and technologies. Welder Qualification & Certification Develop and administer welder qualification testing. Qualify and certify welders according to applicable codes and customer specifications. Maintain welder continuity records and certification status. Coordinate requalification testing as needed. Ensure welding personnel remain compliant with qualification requirements. Engineering & Manufacturing Support Participate in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews. Review welding requirements during quoting and contract review. Evaluate the weldability of new products and manufacturing opportunities. Recommend welding processes and manufacturing methods. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for welding-related production issues. Work closely with production supervisors, welders, and manufacturing personnel. Training & Technical Support Develop and conduct welding training programs. Mentor welding personnel on welding best practices and workmanship standards. Provide technical guidance to production and manufacturing teams. Support troubleshooting and resolution of welding-related quality and production issues. Records & Compliance Maintain welding certifications, qualifications, continuity logs, procedures, and audit records. Ensure documentation is accurate, organized, and audit-ready. Support internal, customer, regulatory, and third-party audits. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve welding efficiency, quality, safety, and throughput. Support Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) initiatives. Evaluate new welding technologies, automation, consumables, and equipment. What We're Looking For Experience in welding engineering, welding technology, manufacturing engineering, or a related field. Strong knowledge of welding processes, procedures, and qualification requirements. Experience developing and maintaining WPS and PQR documentation . Experience qualifying and certifying welders. Working knowledge of
AWS, ASME, NAVSEA, MIL-STD
, and/or customer-specific welding requirements. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, welding specifications, and technical documentation. Strong understanding of welding materials, processes, equipment, and manufacturing methods. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Production teams. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
