We are seeking a detail-oriented Engineer to support the design, development, testing, and continuous improvement of our braking products. This role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership and may include oversight of engineering, quality control, or both, based on business needs. Working closely with teams across departments, the Engineer will help enhance product performance, quality, and manufacturing efficiency. Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee engineering and/or quality control functions, as assigned by management, including establishing priorities,, supervising and training assigned personnel, providing technical guidance and performance feedback, and ensuring department objectives are met Design and develop automotive brake components and systems, including rotors, brake pads, and related friction components, and oversee new product introductions through testing, validation, and production implementation Create, review, and maintain engineering and quality documentation, including CAD models, drawings, specifications, Bills of Materials (BOMs), test plans, inspection criteria, test results, and technical reports Conduct and oversee performance, durability, and validation testing, and analyze laboratory results, field data, and quality control findings to evaluate product performance, quality, and compliance Lead root cause and failure analyses related to product defects, quality concerns, and customer feedback, and coordinate corrective and prevention actions Collaborate with Product Management, R D, Manufacturing, and other departments on project planning, design reviews, and product evaluations to resolve technical and quality issues and meet project requirements and timelines Identify and implement improvements to product design, manufacturability, and assigned engineering or quality control processes to enhance product quality, operational efficiency, and cost effectiveness Ensure assigned engineering and quality control activities meet applicable SAE, FMVSS, and ISO requirements, customer specifications, and company policies and procedures Research and evaluate materials, coatings, manufacturing processes, competitive products, and emerging technologies while monitoring industry and market trends to identify opportunities for product improvement Follow all safety protocols in compliance with department policies, as well as federal and state regulations Understand and adhere to all company policies and procedures while always maintaining professionalism Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field Minimum 5 years of experience in product engineering within the automotive aftermarket or OEM sector Strong understanding of brake system components, particularly rotors and brake pads Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) and FEA/CAE tools Knowledge of applicable industry standards, including SAE, FMVSS, and ISO Hands on experience with lab testing and validation procedures for automotive brake components Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to supervise, train, and provide technical guidance to employees Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, work independently, exercise sound judgement, and make technical decisions Must demonstrate professionalism in all interactions with company personnel
Physical Requirements:
This position requires extended periods of standing, walking, and working in a warehouse environment. The role may involve lifting, carrying, and moving materials or components weighing up to 10-50 pounds. Candidates should be able to perform repetitive tasks and safely operate within a production setting while following all safety guidelines.
