Wallaby Medical

Sr. R&D Engineer, Clinical & Physician Engagement

Job Description

This Sr. R&D Engineer role is intended to strengthen how WallabyPhenox showcases its neurovascular R&D capabilities to visiting physicians and clinicians at the Laguna Hills R&D Center. This person will serve as the primary host and technical presenter for VIP physician and clinician visits, representing our product and technology portfolio with polish and credibility. The role also carries an upstream marketing dimension, capturing physician and KOL insight to help inform future product direction. In addition, this is a genuine engineering contributor role, with participation in product development and sustaining engineering work in close coordination with cross-border R&D, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams. Responsibilities and Duties Plan and host VIP physician/clinician visits to the R&D center — agenda design, product and technology presentations, live demonstrations, facility tours Represent R&D's work to external clinical stakeholders in a way that builds confidence in WallabyPhenox's neurovascular capabilities Translate technical/engineering content into clear, compelling narratives for physician and non-technical audiences Capture Voice of Customer and KOL feedback on current and future products during visits and engagements; translate that input into actionable insight to inform upstream product planning and design direction, partnering with R&D and Marketing where a dedicated upstream marketing function doesn't exist locally Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Clinical Affairs on physician training, KOL engagement, and conference/demo support Participate in — and as experience grows, help lead — product development programs and sustaining engineering work, ensuring this is a substantive R&D contributor role rather than a purely customer-facing one Contribute hands-on engineering work: early concept prototyping, design/process refinement, verification & validation testing Write/execute test protocols and reports; support design and process FMEA as needed Work closely with R&D, Engineering, and Manufacturing departments across global sites — including cross-border coordination with China and Germany-based teams — on sustaining and development efforts Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality and Regulatory to coordinate program efforts Qualifications and Skills Exceptional presentation, verbal, and interpersonal skills — this is the top priority. Confident, articulate, and polished in front of physicians and external visitors Genuine customer/relationship orientation; comfortable being the "face" of the R&D center Ability to build rapport quickly and read a room of clinicians vs. engineers vs. executives Solid engineering fundamentals — mechanical, biomedical, or materials engineering — with working familiarity with neurovascular devices Comfortable synthesizing customer/clinical feedback into product-relevant insight Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and take ownership without close supervision Comfortable collaborating in a multi-culture, multi-lingual, globally matrixed organization, including regularly working across US/China/Germany time zones Working knowledge of
