Job Description

Overview:
ZoNexus LLC designs and manufactures tools for transmission electron microscopes (TEM), scanning electron microscopes (SEM), Focused Ion Beam microscopes (FIB) and other microscopy- and spectroscopy- related instruments. ZoNexus' R&D and manufacturing facilities are located in Richmond, California. For some of our projects, we collaborate with National Center of Electron Microscopy, Molecular Foundry, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic engineering and manufacturing team. We will consider senior applicants as well as recent graduates. Compensation and responsibilities will be based on the candidate's experience. Job Responsibilities Design and prototype electron microscopy accessories such as SEM and TEM sample holders. Set up and maintain electron microscopy laboratory, troubleshoot and service electron microscopy sample prep instruments.
Job Requirements:
Associate, Bachelors, Masters or Ph.D in mechanical engineering, physics or similar. Strong background in using 3D CAD programs such as Fusion 360 and SolidWorks. Programming skills for motion control and knowledge of basic electronics. Experience with arduino and raspberry pi programming. Other desired skills/experience Experience with product design and prototyping. Hands on experience in fabrication techniques such as machining, 3D printing, soldering and brazing. Experience with GD&T and making engineering drawings. Experience with thermal simulation and analysis. Experience and knowledge in vacuum-based systems. Experience with microfluidics and MEMS devices. Experience with cryogenic systems. Experience with handling and assembling very small parts. Knowledge about vendors for purchasing parts and materials. Experience with SEMs, FIBs and TEMs. Experience in writing grant proposals.
