Job Description We're looking for a curious, motivated, and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer I to join our Research & Development team! This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career engineer who enjoys hands-on work, technical problem-solving, and understanding how things work. In this role, you'll collaborate with Engineering, Technical Services, and Manufacturing teams to investigate product issues, conduct testing, and help improve the performance and reliability of BettaBot's robotic pool cleaners. You'll gain practical experience working with mechanical components, electronics, sensors, and integrated systems while supporting product testing, troubleshooting, and development initiatives. We're looking for someone who enjoys getting into the details, isn't afraid to experiment, and takes pride in finding solutions to challenging technical problems. This position also requires fluency in Mandarin to be able to communicate with our overseas partners. What You'll Do Product Testing & Troubleshooting Plan and conduct hands-on tests to evaluate product functionality, performance, and reliability. Investigate product issues and identify potential causes of mechanical or system failures. Test products under controlled and real-world operating conditions. Troubleshoot returned products and investigate issues identified by internal technical teams. Reproduce intermittent or difficult-to-identify product failures. Analyze testing results and document findings to support product improvements. Collaborate with senior engineers to identify opportunities to improve hardware, firmware, and software performance. Research & Development Support Work closely with R D Engineering, Technical Services, and Manufacturing Engineering teams. Assist with testing new products, components, and design modifications. Support engineering investigations and product improvement initiatives. Help identify product weaknesses and recommend potential solutions. Participate in product evaluation and development projects. Document testing procedures, observations, and technical findings. Mechanical Design & Prototyping Use 3D CAD software to design components, test fixtures, and laboratory equipment. Assist with fabricating and assembling components for testing and experimentation. Utilize 3D printing to create prototypes and testing components. Support the development and modification of testing equipment and fixtures. Work with mechanical and electronic components to evaluate product functionality. Technical Collaboration Collaborate with internal teams to investigate and resolve product issues. Communicate testing results, observations, and recommendations clearly. Assist with troubleshooting issues involving mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to product quality and reliability. Take on additional engineering projects and responsibilities as skills develop. What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering or technical discipline . Foundational knowledge of engineering mechanics, fluid mechanics, and mechanics of materials. Basic understanding of control systems and mechanical measurements. Familiarity with 3D CAD software and 3D printing . Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Interest in hands-on product testing, troubleshooting, and experimentation. Ability to approach technical problems logically and methodically. Strong attention to detail and ability to document technical findings. Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Willingness to learn new technologies and develop technical skills. Fluent in Mandarin Preferred Qualifications Experience with CFD, FEA, or multiphysics simulation software . Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, hand tools, or basic machining. Understanding of how mechanical structures, electrical circuits, sensors, actuators, controllers, and software work together. Familiarity with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, and power supplies. Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and electrical schematics. Experience with soldering electronic components, wires, and connectors. Basic programming knowledge in C/C++, Python, LabVIEW, or similar tools . Familiarity with microcontrollers or embedded development platforms such as Arduino or Raspberry Pi . Academic projects, internships, or personal projects involving mechanical design, prototyping, robotics, or product testing.
