Job Function:
The Mechanical Engineer to develop new automation systems and provide production support for existing manufacturing equipment. Provides the key mechanical concepts, design and engineering for new equipment as well as managing other aspects of the equipment development as a member of the integrated development team.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • $80,000-$90,000/yr (Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills and qualifications)

Responsibilities:
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities. Employee may perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
  • Provide innovative mechanical designs and concepts for the design, build and improvements to new and existing manufacturing equipment and automation
  • Responsible for all equipment documentation as part of the equipment manual that includes all mechanical/electrical layouts, preventive maintenance schedules, spare parts lists, operating instructions and illustrations for equipment in development
  • Utilize Automated Optical Inspection (AOI), Robotics and Controls technologies for automated material handling and processing of parts in a variety of processes (Welding, Assembling, Stamping, etc…)
  • Completion of required programing (PLC/PC), electrical documentation, safety controls/guarding, trouble shooting and maintenance of the systems for manufacturing
  • Bill of materials, project tracking and timeline management. This includes equipment operation documentation
  • Deliver the equipment project to the integrated development team to ensure projects are on time and within budget
Required Skills :
  • Advanced understanding of mechanical engineering principles and methods to design, develop, build, test and improve mechanical systems
  • Demonstrated ability in the use of SolidWorks and other software for design of mechanical systems
  • Ability to program
PC/PLC/HMI
systems, motor drives, AOI systems and multi-axis robot controls
  • Understanding and ability to read and interpret detailed mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Ability to use good Project management skills for the delivery of individual equipment development projects
Education & Experience:
Minimum educational requirements listed below may be substituted by relevant experience, learned competencies and/or certifications obtained throughout one's career.
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is required
  • 0-3 years of experience in mechanical system design and engineering for automated equipment
  • Preference given to candidates with knowledge of metal stamping and machining processes
Work Environment:
  • Work is in an office and manufacturing setting with noise and some grinding dust.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Must wear safety glasses, hearing protection, PPE while in manufacturing area.
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
