Job Description

Mechanical Design Engineer - SolidWorksOverview Work Arrangement 100% On-Site Regional/non-local candidates considered if able to relocate or be on-site quickly.
Contract:
6+ months, with strong potential for extension based on performance. Mechanical Design Engineer needed for a 6+ month contract supporting the development of small, handheld medical devices. This hands-on role covers concept development, mechanical design, engineering analysis, prototyping, GD&T, and design completion. The ideal candidate is creative, technically versatile, and comfortable taking a design from concept through prototype and assembly. Key Responsibilities Design small medical device assemblies and components using SolidWorks. Develop plastic injection molded, PIM, disposable plastic, and sheet metal components. Conceptualize designs and perform mechanical engineering analysis. Apply GD&T and complete detailed mechanical drawings. Partner with engineers throughout the new product development (NPD) lifecycle. Build and assemble prototypes to validate designs and solve problems. Identify and resolve mechanical design and manufacturing issues. Respond to customer questions regarding design status and technical details. Support designs for small, powered handheld devices requiring basic E/M understanding. Required Qualifications Strong hands-on experience with SolidWorks; this is the primary design tool. Mechanical Design Engineering experience with 3D CAD. Experience designing plastic injection molded and sheet metal components. Strong understanding of GD&T and detailed mechanical drawings. Experience developing small assemblies and components. Ability to interpret engineering requirements and independently develop designs. Hands-on prototype assembly and design troubleshooting experience. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Creo. Medical device or other highly regulated product development experience. Experience with disposable or handheld products.
