Job Description

Overview Element has an opportunity for an Engineer to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the Operations team, the Engineer will support the execution of complex laboratory and qualification testing for a wide range of aerospace, defense, and industrial customers. This position is hands-on and combines engineering, laboratory testing, data analysis, troubleshooting, and customer interaction. The Engineer will be responsible for planning and executing testing, evaluating test results, troubleshooting technical issues, and providing engineering support to technicians and customers. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced laboratory environment and can effectively balance multiple projects, priorities, and customer requirements.
Salary:
$70,000 - $99,000/yr DOE Responsibilities Plan and execute testing: Plan, coordinate, and perform routine and non-routine engineering and laboratory testing in accordance with customer requirements, specifications, procedures, and applicable industry standards.
Manage test data and results:
Collect, analyze, review, and document test data to ensure accurate and timely reporting of results. Identify trends, anomalies, or conditions that may affect test validity and provide appropriate engineering sign-off of results.
Troubleshoot and solve technical problems:
Apply engineering principles and practical problem-solving skills to troubleshoot test equipment, instrumentation, hydraulic, mechanical, thermal, and other laboratory systems. Lead routine technical problem-solving activities and seek guidance when faced with complex or non-routine issues.
Develop testing capabilities:
Support the development, modification, and implementation of test methods, procedures, fixtures, equipment, and laboratory capabilities. Assist with the evaluation and implementation of new testing technologies and concepts.
Provide technical and customer support:
Serve as a technical resource for customers and internal teams by addressing test requirements, technical questions, test status, results, and issues. Participate in customer meetings, technical reviews, and presentations as required.
Support project and business objectives:
Manage multiple testing activities and priorities while maintaining customer schedules and laboratory commitments. Provide technical input and support for business development opportunities with new and existing customers.
Provide technical leadership:
Assist with the training and professional development of technicians and less experienced engineers. Provide technical guidance and support to laboratory personnel and contribute to a collaborative engineering environment. Maintain safety, quality, and compliance: Perform all work in accordance with company policies, laboratory safety requirements, quality procedures, and applicable standards while maintaining accurate technical and project documentation.
Skills / Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or another relevant science or testing-related discipline. Minimum of 2 years of relevant engineering or laboratory testing experience after completion of degree, or equivalent advanced academic/professional qualifications. Demonstrated ability to apply engineering and academic knowledge in a practical laboratory or industrial environment. Strong understanding of engineering and testing concepts, including test methods, instrumentation, data acquisition, and data analysis. Ability to analyze, interpret, and compile test data from laboratory testing. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel and Solidworks. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, specifications, test procedures, and technical documentation. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, technicians, engineers, and management. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while knowing when to seek guidance.
