Kodiak America:

heavy-duty snow removal equipment for airports, municipalities, oil fields and utilities, including diesel snow blower attachments, self-propelled trucks, hydraulics, gearboxes and controls.

Pickett Equipment:

harvesting equipment for dry beans and specialty crops, sold through dealers across the U.S. and internationally. We design and build in Burley, Idaho. We're a small, hands-on team, and your designs get built, tested and shipped from our own floor. The Role As Chief Engineer, you lead all engineering for Kodiak and Pickett. You own the projects, the schedules and the results. You also manage the people who deliver them: staff engineers, interns, outside engineering contractors and vendor design support. First Priorities Finish active Kodiak projects, starting with a self-propelled airport snow removal truck on a firm delivery schedule Clean up and standardize Kodiak BOMs and engineering documentation Then support Pickett's seasonal needs, R&D and special projects Manage engineering team and resources for engineering needs What You'll Do Ownership Own projects end to end: scope, schedule, budget and delivery Set milestones, track them and raise problems early Lead root cause analysis on field failures and drive corrective action with production and service Support legacy products and customers alongside the parts team Leadership Manage and develop engineers and interns, reviewing their work for accuracy and completeness before release Direct outside contractors and vendor design support Explain technical decisions clearly to leadership, production and customers Innovation Design mechanical systems for mobile equipment, including towable harvesters, diesel attachments and self-propelled trucks Integrate hydraulic, electrical, controls and drivetrain systems built for vibration, dirt, cold, snow and ice Model, detail and run FEA in SolidWorks Take new designs from feasibility through prototype, field testing and release What You Need Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or a related field 7+ years designing industrial, mobile or off-highway equipment A track record of delivering projects on schedule Experience leading engineers, drafters or contractors SolidWorks proficiency, including drawings and FEA Hands-on design experience in several of: diesel power, hydraulics, gearboxes, drivetrains, electrical/controls At least one design carried from concept through production release Nice to Have Master's in engineering or a PE license Snow removal, agricultural, construction or mining equipment experience Adverse-condition testing and validation Weldments, fabrication, materials selection and manufacturing processes ERP and BOM management experience Where You'll Work On site at our main plant in Burley, Idaho. For the right candidate, we'll consider our Rexburg office with required regular time in Burley. Candidates willing to relocate to the Burley area are welcome. Either way, expect real time on the shop floor.
