full-time Roberts Design Build Solutions, a division of Roberts Environmental Control Corp., is seeking a licensed Professional Engineer for a unique project-development and technical leadership role within our growing design-build team. This is not a traditional engineering position centered on producing drawings. We are looking for a strong mechanical engineer who wants to be involved from the first conversation with an owner through engineering, pricing, presentation, construction, commissioning, and completion. You may be an experienced PE looking for a broader leadership role, or you may have earned your PE relatively recently and be ready for substantially more responsibility. We care more about capability, judgment, communication skills, creativity, and ambition than an arbitrary number of years. What You'll Do Meet directly with building owners and facility teams to understand needs, problems, budgets, and long-term objectives. Survey existing facilities and develop practical HVAC and mechanical solutions. Perform or oversee load calculations, system evaluations, equipment sizing and selection, energy analysis, controls concepts, and preliminary engineering. Work with estimating and operations to turn engineering concepts into realistic scopes, budgets, and executable projects . Evaluate alternatives based on cost, energy performance, constructability, reliability, maintainability, and lifecycle value. Participate in proposals, owner presentations, technical discussions, and project-development meetings. Establish the engineering direction once a project moves forward. Coordinate internal designers, BIM resources, outside engineers, manufacturers, and other technical partners. Review calculations, drawings, specifications, submittals, and technical deliverables. Provide engineering QA/QC and seal documents when required and appropriate. Stay involved during construction, startup, commissioning, and turnover. The existing DBS role was intentionally structured around this full project lifecycle, including owner engagement, conceptual design, equipment selection, estimating coordination, engineering oversight, construction support, and closeout. What Makes This Opportunity Different At Roberts DBS, you won't simply be handed a finished concept and asked to design it. You'll help determine: What should we build? Why is it the right solution? What will it cost? How should it be engineered? How do we present it to the owner? How do we make sure it gets built correctly? You'll work alongside the people who estimate, manage, install, start, and service the systems you help develop. That means better feedback, better engineering, and a much broader understanding of how successful projects actually come together.

Who We're Looking For Required:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Active Professional Engineer (PE) license (IL) Strong commercial, institutional, or industrial HVAC/mechanical design experience Experience with load calculations, equipment sizing, system selection, hydronic systems, air systems, ventilation, heating, cooling, and controls Strong technical judgment and problem-solving ability Strong communication and presentation skills Comfortable working directly with owners, contractors, engineers, vendors, and field teams An active PE and meaningful HVAC design capability remain core requirements of the position. Experience We'd Especially Value Experience with design-build, existing-building modernization, energy engineering, facility assessments, performance contracting, central plants, controls, conceptual estimating, proposals, owner presentations, commissioning, school retrofit, or project management is valuable. Real Financial Upside Base Salary:

$110,000-$150,000 annually, based on experience, technical qualifications, project-development capabilities, and demonstrated leadership. In addition to base salary, this position includes a performance incentive tied to the financial success of Roberts Design Build Solutions projects.
