Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer / Project Lead to support manufacturing operations. The role involves leading the design, development, validation, and implementation of lifting fixtures, material handling devices, and manufacturing support equipment used in engine and generator set assembly operations. The candidate will work directly at the customer manufacturing facility, collaborating with manufacturing engineers, operations, safety teams, and suppliers to develop safe, efficient, and cost-effective engineering solutions. The role also involves leading and coordinating a team of four offshore mechanical engineers in India to ensure timely delivery of quality designs and engineering documentation. Roles & Responsibilities Lead the design and development of custom lifting fixtures, lifting devices, material handling equipment, and manufacturing support tooling. Develop solutions to improve operator safety, ergonomics, productivity, and manufacturing efficiency. Perform engineering calculations and analyses to ensure compliance with applicable lifting standards and safety factors. Review and approve engineering designs, detailed drawings, and bills of materials. Perform or review Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to validate structural performance and durability. Support fixture fabrication, testing, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting. Collaborate with manufacturing, production, safety, and quality teams to identify requirements and define project scope. Visit assembly lines and workstations to evaluate processes and collect field measurements. Develop engineering concepts and layouts that integrate with existing manufacturing operations. Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and safety evaluations. Coordinate with suppliers and fabricators throughout the fixture development process. Lead assigned lifting fixture projects and supervise a team of four offshore mechanical engineers in India. Assign engineering tasks, establish priorities, and monitor project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and resources. Conduct technical reviews to ensure design quality and compliance with applicable standards. Mentor junior engineers through technical guidance and design reviews. Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, specifications, calculations, test reports, and design records. Support engineering change management and release processes. Education Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline. Experience Experience designing lifting fixtures, lifting devices, material handling equipment, or manufacturing tooling. Experience supporting industrial manufacturing environments. Experience performing or reviewing FEA analysis. Experience creating detailed engineering drawings and GD&T documentation. Experience with project management, technical leadership, and coordinating engineering teams.
