Work with Product Engineer and Program Manager to help establish GD&T. Design all tooling as required, and participate in all scheduled design reviews. Write up and order all material including any tooling aids. Monitor progress of any designs or die components placed at outside suppliers. Follow up with Tool Room and Manufacturing to confirm intended process. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Include the following. Other duties may be assigned Review product design with Advance Engineering for any suggestions regarding manufacturability Work with Program Management and Quality to help establish a workable and representative GD&T scheme Draft drawings of dies, assembly tooling, and fixtures necessary to complete stamping or other assembly tooling operations and develop plans for single stage or progressive stage dies for stamping Determines sequence and number of die stages in which single or progressive cutting, punching, and forming will be accomplished, and type of die sets required to produce complete part, based on knowledge of dies, forming processes, and machines If designs are placed at outside source, establish die process and obtained (3) quotes. Upon receipt evaluate quotations based on pricing, delivery, & quality, and after placement decisions made, follow designs on a weekly basis to monitor progress Check design, and write up & order components for die build (die set and risers, tool steel, and any standard items required) and order tooling aids as required. Monitor progress of all orders placed to ensure on-time delivery Observes setup and tryout of newly developed die while in production machine to determine need for redesign or readiness for production use. Use information for future reference Provide information and/or material to Tool Room as needed Attend regular Engineering meetings and others as required Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed above. The qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • 18 years of age or older with the ability to work extended hours
  • Must be able to prove United States work eligibility
  • Demonstrates the skills required or aptitude and motivation to master the required skills, essential duties, and responsibilities with reasonable supervision and training
  • Preferred Education and/or Experience, but not required: Associate's Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrate the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
If required by job, must demonstrate the ability to write simple correspondence, effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the company
