full-time The Field Engineer is an entry-level construction professional responsible for supporting project operations in the field while developing the technical, operational, and leadership skills necessary to advance into a Project Engineer role. Working alongside Project Engineers, Superintendents, and Project Managers, the Field Engineer assists with project coordination, documentation, production tracking, quality control, and field operations. This position is designed for early-career professionals seeking hands-on experience in heavy highway construction and a long-term career path with Emery Sapp & Sons. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Field Operations Support Assist Project Engineers and field leadership with day-to-day project activities. Gain an understanding of heavy highway construction means and methods. Observe and track project progress, production quantities, and field productivity. Participate in daily planning meetings and project coordination efforts. Support jobsite logistics and communication between field and office teams. Project Administration Assist with daily reports and project documentation. Maintain project records, photographs, and tracking logs. Support submittal, RFI, and document control processes. Review plans, specifications, and contract documents to develop technical knowledge. Quality & Safety Participate in field inspections and quality control activities. Assist in verifying work is completed according to project requirements. Support company safety initiatives and jobsite compliance efforts. Attend project safety meetings and training programs. Professional Development Learn project management fundamentals through hands-on experience. Develop schedule awareness, cost control understanding, and construction planning skills. Receive mentorship from experienced Project Engineers, Superintendents, and Project Managers. Progress toward a Project Engineer role through demonstrated performance and skill development. Qualifications Required Bachelor's Degree in: Civil Engineering Construction Management Construction Science Engineering Technology Related Construction or Engineering Field 0-2 years of construction-related experience. Willingness to work in a field-based environment. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Preferred Internship, co-op, or construction-related work experience. Exposure to heavy civil, highway, bridge, earthwork, concrete, or utility construction. Experience reading construction drawings and specifications.
