Position Summary:

We are seeking a hands-on R&D Technician to support the development of advanced electronic products from prototype through design validation. In this role, you will work closely with engineers to assemble, modify, troubleshoot, and test prototype hardware while ensuring development projects remain on schedule. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced engineering environment, has strong soldering and rework skills, and takes pride in producing high-quality hardware.

Key Responsibilities:

Support engineering development projects by assembling, modifying, testing, and troubleshooting prototype units and modules. Build and maintain prototype hardware to ensure engineering teams have the equipment needed to meet development schedules. Perform board-level modifications and updates on prototype and high-power electronic assemblies. Execute precision surface-mount soldering and rework using microscopes and specialized equipment. Rework high copper-weight printed circuit boards (PCBs) using appropriate soldering and repair techniques. Assemble instruments and prototype systems for engineering evaluation and design validation testing. Build and configure hardware, firmware, and remote-access test systems to support engineering activities. Document prototype modifications, hardware status, rework activities, and verification results. Perform printed circuit assembly (PCA) testing to verify successful repairs and modifications. Complete sheet metal modifications required to support prototype and product design changes. Safely operate stationary and hand tools, including grinders and drills, to support prototype fabrication and mechanical modifications. Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and cross-functional teams to meet project milestones and product delivery schedules. Adapt quickly to changing priorities and support multiple development projects simultaneously.

Required Qualifications:

Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.), Associate of Science (A.S.), technical diploma, or equivalent technical training. Hands-on experience performing precision surface-mount soldering and rework under a microscope. Experience repairing, modifying, or reworking high copper-weight PCBs. Experience assembling electronic instruments, prototype hardware, modules, or electromechanical systems. Ability to support design validation testing, hardware troubleshooting, and engineering evaluations. Experience performing board-level modifications, PCA verification testing, and hardware documentation. Mechanical aptitude and experience using hand and stationary shop tools, including drills and grinders. Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship. Excellent teamwork and communication skills. Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic R&D environment.

Physical & Work Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to begin work at 7:00 AM. Ability to work overtime, including weekends, when required to support project schedules.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience supporting new product development or engineering prototype builds. Familiarity with electronic test equipment and laboratory environments. Pay:

$43.04 - $57.39 per hour
