Job Description

Mondre Energy, Inc. (MEI) is seeking an Energy Engineer / Mechanical Engineer to support a variety of energy and engineering projects. The position involves applying engineering, analytical, and quantitative skills to evaluate energy use, building systems, utility costs, infrastructure, renewable energy, energy procurement and energy efficiency opportunities. This position also involves developing engineering and financial models, performing data analysis, conducting research, and preparing technical reports and other project deliverables.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Energy Engineering & Building Systems Conduct and support energy audits, facility assessments, and building evaluations for commercial, industrial, institutional, government, and other properties. Evaluate building mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, Building Management Systems (BMS), controls , heating and cooling equipment, building automation, and other energy-consuming systems. Analyze building energy performance, develop energy-use profiles, and identify energy conservation measures and operational improvements. Analyze electricity, natural gas, water, heating, cooling, and other utility consumption. Perform engineering calculations and energy modeling to evaluate building performance and potential improvements. Support equipment replacement, retrofit, renovation, electrification, and capital planning decisions. Evaluate building and facility conditions and develop recommendations for infrastructure improvements and capital needs. Renewable Energy, Infrastructure & Emerging Technologies Research and evaluate conventional, renewable, distributed, and emerging energy technologies. Evaluate technologies such as solar
PV, BESS
, distributed generation, fuel cells, turbines, reciprocating engines, CHP, microgrids, and other energy systems. Compare alternatives based on technical performance, reliability, operating characteristics, capital and operating costs, emissions, footprint, schedule, and other project requirements. Evaluate utility infrastructure, central plants, distribution systems, generation resources, and emerging loads. Research interconnection requirements, incentives, permitting, utility requirements, and other project considerations. Support decarbonization and electrification planning, including renewable integration and evaluation of alternative energy strategies. Engineering, Financial & Data Analysis Develop engineering, energy, and financial models, including models for energy consumption, renewable generation, storage, and project economics. Collect, integrate, and analyze energy data from utility systems, building management systems, meters, equipment, and other data sources. Evaluate capital costs, operating costs, energy savings, lifecycle costs, payback, cash flow, and other financial measures. Perform scenario, sensitivity, and risk analyses. Develop assumptions and methodologies, validate data and calculations, and document analytical approaches. Analyze large datasets and develop tables, charts, dashboards, and other tools to communicate results. Develop analytical tools and processes to improve the efficiency and consistency of project work. Use programming and analytical tools such as Python, Power

, or similar technologies where appropriate. Measurement & Verification Support EM&V (Measurement and Verification) of energy efficiency projects and utility-sponsored programs. Collect and analyze energy consumption, operating, equipment, and project data. Verify installed measures and evaluate realized energy savings. Develop baselines, perform calculations, and document assumptions and results. Support program evaluation, impact analysis, and reporting. Research & Project Support Research technical, market, regulatory, financial, and industry topics relevant to project assignments. Gather information from utilities, suppliers, vendors, manufacturers, government agencies, technical publications, and other sources. Coordinate with clients, utilities, suppliers, contractors, facility personnel, and other project stakeholders. Prepare technical reports, proposals, presentations, spreadsheets, models, and other project deliverables. Perform field investigations and site visits as required. Support project planning, scope development, budgeting, and proposal preparation. Utility Data, Rates & Energy Markets Analyze utility bills, interval data, energy consumption, demand, and costs to develop load profiles and identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement. Research and analyze utility tariffs , rate structures, demand charges, and other factors affecting energy costs. Support energy procurement activities for electricity, natural gas, oil, renewable energy, and other energy supplies. Support market analysis, price forecasting, budgeting, supplier evaluation, and analysis of procurement options and contracts Develop and maintain analytical tools and databases used to track utility accounts, suppliers, contracts, rates, and energy usage.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering , or a related engineering discipline. Strong engineering fundamentals and quantitative problem-solving skills. Experience working with technical data, engineering calculations, spreadsheets, or analytical models. Ability to analyze complex information and develop logical, well-supported conclusions. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other standard engineering or analytical software. Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet project deadlines. Experience with Python, Power
BI, SQL, R
, or similar analytical tools is also valuable.
Compensation:

$65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
