The R&D Engineering Technician provides hands-on support for software development, prototype build-out, testing, validation, and documentation under the direction of the R&D engineering team. This role helps convert engineering concepts into working equipment and ensures test results and build knowledge are captured clearly. Responsibilities Assist with robot, PLC, and machine-software programming under the direction of Software Engineers. Build, modify, and wire prototypes; perform mechanical assembly and component installation. Execute test plans, validation activities, regression tests, and structured data collection. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, software, and integration issues during development. Support prototype and early-release deployments in the lab or field as assigned. Document what was built, changed, tested, and observed, including photos, measurements, results, and open issues. Create assembly procedures, troubleshooting content, and manuals. Maintain an organized, safe, and functional R&D build and test environment. Qualifications Associates Degree in Engineering, Software or relevant work experience Basic to intermediate programming ability, with Python preferred and the ability to learn robot and PLC programming. Hands-on mechanical and electrical aptitude, including wiring, assembly, drawings, hand tools, and test equipment. PLC, robot, industrial equipment, or machine-building exposure helpful but not required. Ability to follow structured direction while independently recognizing and reporting problems. Detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and able to clearly document builds, tests, and troubleshooting results. Must have strong English verbal and written communication skills Must be able to intermittently lift 50 lb loads #RDETJC1
Pay:
$30.00 - $36.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
